Just had a letter from E-on that the electric deal that runs out at the end of March can be renewed at a bargain £635 up from £495.

I saw something about the regulator approving increases but yikes

Currently on a fixed British Gas deal which can be exited early for a £30 fee.

Usage is about 2800kwh of electricity and paying £40/month right now.

Gas is about 17000kwh and £64/month.

Seems like time to look at a price comparison site but any recommendations?

Right so the plan was to sign up with Octopus tomorrow for gas and electric.

There's no electric car or secret cannabis farm using lots of kWh in the dead of the night.

Would people go on a fixed or flexible Octopus tarrif initially?

I'm a little confused how it works going from their estimate on the website to getting actual realistic bills.
