Pond in the front garden - liability
Discussion
I wasn't sure where to put this question. Should it be here or legal or posted in the council thread?!
Are there any legal and/or liability issues of putting a pond in the front garden?? Looking at the pond thread I doubt it
Pond will be 1x1.5m approx so very small. Strictly wildlife so deliberately overgrown, wild flowers, nicely planted etc. Are we asking for trouble putting this in the front garden? The pond will be on private property, approx 6m from the entrance to the driveway and will not be fenced off or secured in anyway.
Thoughts?

Thanks for all the comments..
I'm interested mainly in the legal and liability side. A colleague raised the concern about it.
There is also a common sense consideration. As Surveyor described ponds can have some serious safety concerns. Where we live we are surrounded by rivers and very close to the sea. Even so Surveyor's example touched a nerve.
Anyone visiting the house will need to stray along way off the path to get near it. Helping out with a friend's pond years ago we did put in a lattice of rebar in just below the surface so maybe that will be an option again.
I must admit the dire warnings of flocks of flamingo did make me laugh far more than it should though!!
