Interesting how all the posters are in credit not debit... all things being equal you'd expect a 50:50 mix... win to the utility companies.
Anyone for SimpoPower plc? Only £50 a month and a 5 year contract. Don't expect any power though!
You will always build up a credit in the summer which offsets a deficit in the winterAnyone for SimpoPower plc? Only £50 a month and a 5 year contract. Don't expect any power though!

So, do I get any say in which of the six companies I'm transferred to? Or is it 'Beggars can't be choosers'.
I ask because I would absolutely not want to become a Scottish Power customer. I had a dreadful experience with their customer 'service' department. I was quoted different amounts for a final bill and given conflicting information by different 'advisors'.
Look at their reviews....https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.scottishpower.com

If you want an accurate usage it's best to have 12 months as it fluctuates so much between summer and winter.
If all you are worried about is your debit/credit the latest statement will be fine.
All you need is your annual statement or the readings from 12 months ago and the readings nowIf all you are worried about is your debit/credit the latest statement will be fine.

Still haven't heard anything more from Octopus so checked their info page. Most of it is about how quickly they're trying to do things but it does say:
Don’t want to wait to find out your tariff rates? There's a way you can check them right now on our site, as the tariff lines up exactly with our current variable tariff, Flexible Octopus.
1. Head to octopus.energy/tariffs
2. Put in your postcode
3. Click 'filters' and tick 'flexible'
4. Scroll to find a tariff called Flexible Octopus October 2021 v2
5. These will be your rates – as promised, around ~£10 cheaper than the price cap for the average home, and cheaper than anything available from a major supplier.
For me it's:
Electricity
Unit rate: 20.01 p/kWh
Standing charge: 26.45 p/day
Gas
Unit rate: 3.91 p/kWh
Standing charge: 26.11 p/day
My Octopus dashboard tells me what tariff I'm going on and also they expect to have my balance etc from Avro this week.Don’t want to wait to find out your tariff rates?
