2022 Lawn Thread
Discussion
Haven't seen this years thread, so please close if its been setup.
I'm just looking out at my lawn, and I swear its showing signs of growth (South East). Does the soil temp need to be >8c? Some of the days have been into double figures, but nights it regularly drops close to zero, so on that basis its unlikely to be growing.
Maybe its just my imagination, and I know its a bit sad, but i'm itching to get the mower out!

A few pics of my garden. Third year since moving in.
Last Autumn I heavily scarified and over seeded, and its really liked it. 3month fertilizer from Lawn-smith and i've also just started using liquid seaweed.
Mowing every couple of days with the catcher off. The 'pitch' is giving me plenty of headaches as its in the shade, clay soil which has already been dug down, and heavy foot traffic with two boys (and one big kid!) playing football, hence the goal areas.

Looks like I have got some red thread coming through - So I have given the lawn some lawn food with a good percentage of nitrogen.
What else is suggested??
thanks
Last year I used this with great effect:What else is suggested??
thanks
Over the weekend I put a nitrogen feed down and then used the above. Shall report back later in the week with the results...
Its that time of year now for scarifying and re-seeding.
I've noticed a few posters have used polythene sheeting to encourage growth and prevent birds from munching on the new seed. Where can I buy that sheeting? A quick google brings up clear dust sheets for decorating, will these do the job? The area I'm looking at is 5x15 metres.

I scarified about 3 weeks ago. I only had time for one pass, so I was moderately aggressive with it…
Then I overseeded and top-dressed with a thin covering of compost.
Three weeks later, and I’ve just given it its second mowing. Not looking too bad! It has really thickened up in the last week. Even though I’ve done this umpteen times, it still amazes me how the lawn recovers…
