I need to stop the local kids coming onto my drive when I'm not at home and either posting flowers through my letterbox or rearranging the collection of car parts I have out the front. Telling them not to doesnt really accomplish much. Also wouldnt mind a little extra security for peace of mind

I've got a modest front garden/driveway area, parking space for 2 cars and a few plants etc

Fancy putting some gates up, but I cant have ones that open inwards, as there's not enough room to open them because of the cars. Cant have them opening outwards as it's straight onto the road

I dont much fancy a Lambo door/gate arrangement

Is there such a thing as retractable/folding driveway gates? And where would I find such a thing if it existed?

I've knocked up a quick (wonky lines and all) Paint diagram if I'm not explaining myself too well

How about 2 sliding gates. So open one and it slides behind other, or visa versa. Just with a central column?
That sounds like what I'm after. The central column could be a bit of a showstopper and I'd use most of the space to swing the Quantum in, but sure something could be worked out/around

I had a similar problem so made these for myself.

The 3 gates on the right are hinged together and open fully against the hedge with a support wheel on the end of the second gate. The single gate on the left is for the postman etc.
Brilliant, just what I'm after. I dont or wouldnt want to open them up down the side of the hedge, as there's a tree in the way in my front garden, but I think they could stack up and leave enough room to get a car in and out. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics

Doing a bit more research today, and looks like wooden ones are going to be too heavy for the height I want. I've decided that wrought iron bi or tri-folding gates should do the trick, local fabrication co are talking around £600 for the width I need (18 foot + 6 foot railings to cover the garden area)

I thought that sounded expensive for what you've described actually! But I don't know if there's more work in those quotes to what I think there is.

The ones I had done in the end were £550 for two 9'ish foot gates that fold in the middle.
