Something to stop a door blowing open
Discussion
There is only one problem with outside doors that open outwards - the slightest breath of wind catches them and in a very short time will strain/damage/break the hinges.
I'm trying to think of some way of stopping it from doing this - but short of a loop of rope hanging outside that I can put round the handle, I'm a bit stuck for a neater idea. An external doorstop won't work as the ground is about 6" lower and anything high enough would get tripped over.
If I'm just going in or out it's not a problem as I can close the door after me, but if I just want it open a bit for ventilation or to clear burning toast smoke, that's when the problem can start.
Are there any clever gadgets, hydraulic levers etc that might hold the door partly open?

Thanks guys - the issue with the gate hook idea is that it's a new uPVC door and I don't want to drill holes in it or stick anything on that will show on the inside. Hence the simple plan just to loop something over the internal handle. The hydraulic piston might be worth a look - any links?
