We've been without a cat since our beloved bubbles passed away a little over 12 months ago now and we feel that it's now time to bring a new member into our family. We've got 3 children, the youngest being 3 and I think that most family homes are completed with a pet. I can't dedicate the time to a Labrador right now (I've had a couple in the past - RIP Ben and Mac) and can't see myself owning another breed of dog, so I will get another Labrador eventually. The missus and I have wanted a British Shorthair (blue) for some time now and I was wondering if there were any PHers that had them and can offer me any advice on owning one. I know that they are renowned for their excellent temperament and that they like their creature comforts...think Garfield! I've a couple of local breeders in mind that I'm waiting a response from and I'm hoping to pick up a kitten that's 12 weeks old and will have received it's innoculations.

Any advice on keeping a BSH would be very much welcome, what they like/dislike, as would of course pictures of your own.

Guys, many thanks for your replies. Not sure how I didn't see them until just now! K77, you havent put me off. smile

I'm struggling to get responses from breeders at the moment, strangely. I've a friend who has one and she is putting me in touch with the breeder that her car was sourced from. Will keep you informed of developments.

I too am considering a short hair as my recently deceased moggy was a Short Hair cross and he was awesome. I was wanting the laid back back nature Short Hairs are famed for.

K 77 CTR did your sister's ones all come from the same breeder?
Sorry to hear about the recent loss of your cat. frown I hope you get fixed up soon.
