How I Got stuck With A Stray Dog And Could NOT Get Rid
On Friday went down to Blackpool to see the eldest & sort something. As I got back from getting something out of the car,I found him outside his flat with a stray dog that had just wandered up to him,and was getting petted. As it was friendly & not utterly minging,we took it in to get someone to collect it for the dog pound.Big mistake!
Plod didnt want to know, they had no one spare(Friday night+Blackpool,no surprise) Also they cant put it in their dog van in case it gave one of their dogs the lurgy(understandable) and they cant put it in their patrol car in case it gave a prisoner an allergic reaction.Try the dog warden they say. Great ,except none of the local ones work late at night(it was about 11) or even on the weekends! And the pound doesnt open till 10
So we are stuck with her(although the cops did say we could just ket her go,no way we could do that in the high winds that night)
Also she was too cute & cuddly...see:
So my son had a strange Rottweiller on him all night, she was no hassle, and very friendly.
Next morning with still no reply from a dog warden we have to take her to the pound. She walked fine without a lead, and even jumped in the car no problem...the problem was fitting 2 of us and the Rottie in an MX5!
She coped well, not sure about us:
At the pound it turns out she was chipped, called Tara, but owned by someone in Stockport,50 miles away! Hopefully she will be reunited.Odd that no one had reported her lost though.

If anyone finds a stray dog and can't take it themselves and no other options are available, just take it to a police station and dump it in the foyer. Far from ideal but its better than leaving it on the street.
We did that once many years ago. Again at night. Cant fault the cops though, they were obviously busy, and they gave us the Warden's number, but they just were not at homeAdiT said:
OP. Never again...? I suspect you would
I've done 2 people, a Weim and a Whippet in an MX5 (not regularly, just an emergency). Cosy isn't it?
Yes,I probably would, but hopefully with the family car to hand I've done 2 people, a Weim and a Whippet in an MX5 (not regularly, just an emergency). Cosy isn't it?

I somehow doubt the dog has travelled 50 miles by itself. Maybe the owners have moved and not updated the chip information. Hopefully there will be a valid contact phone number.
Either on Holiday,or an old address(worst case, stolen but escaped,so maybe only reported locally) The phone nyumber wasnt answered when we got to the poundI know, and it is a horrible thought. Even though she was as soft as anything with us, I bet anyone seeing a Rottie in kennels will just walk on by.
I really would take her if I could, but we already have 2 dogs, and SWMBO really does not like big dogs( she was bitten by one as a kid)
I just hope someone takes her.

Just been on the phone to the kennels to find out which rescue centre she went to,as it wasnt the one my friend is at, but they wont tell me!
Apparently the rescue organisations dont want them giving out details of where she went as they have had problems with owners who didnt pay the rescue fee getting them back from the organisation.
She said they work with "homeless hounds"(who dont have her on their website yet) but that she would probably have gone to Wigan or Warrington.
