I've got a Green Finch who's decided to take up residence in my loft. Anyone have a surefire way to catch & release, causing as little stress as possible to him? (definitely a male going on his colouring).

|https://thumbsnap.com/ysoS6Ya6[/url. Are you sure it’s a greenfinch? It doesn’t sound like the character of a greenfinch they are more tree, bush dwelling birds ! Not doubting you but it’s not one of these is it ??
I'm by no means an expert but it's definitely not a Parakeet. It's much smaller and 'rounder'. We have quite a healthy Green Finch population where i live & i rarely see parakeets (thankfully).

Priority is to get it out of the loft without causing it further stress, if it can't get out & feed then it must be starving! I'll try and get a photo pre capture if i can, but can't promise anything.

Can't you just leave him up there? We've got some starlings in our loft and I just let them get on with it, quite like to have them rooming with us actually.

Although it is a bit alarming when I go up to get something, and they start flapping about and charging up and down.
I could, but don't really like the thought of having a hole in the roof, especially as winter looms. I'm off on Thursday so will hopefully patch the hole & see him out safely. Have left a seed ball up there for him just in case he can't get out himself.
