The old boy went for a walk this morning and his back legs gave out. At 21.00 we rang the vet an took him there. He left us at about 22.00

fk fk fk i miss him. allready

got him at 10 as a foster dog from the Labrador Lifeline Trust for a few weeks before he got a permanent home Nearly 7 years later he was still with us.

Lovely old dog a Lab/Ridgeback cross. loved the grandkids who have grown up with him

The house is bigger tonight as a lovely light has left it, and i am drinking like a fish and it is having no effect.( edit it is now 12.49 qnd the half a bottle of Kaken has gone0 Getting him cremated individually and he should be back home to sit with our other two lads in a day or so.

We feel so bloody lonely and tears are flowing freely.. Left his favourite blanket with the vet so he wouldn't be alone. on his journey to the crem. I know it is daft, but only people in this position realise exactly what we are going through. The tough part will be talking to those who knew him ,he was a well liked dog by everyone.
Off for another blub...sorry for the ramble, but after three dogs it doesnt get any easier
He is now as the LLT say. waiting at the rainbow bridge hope he finds it ok and he has the use of his legs so he can chase the cat and squirrels again

Thanks lads

This is about the only forum on this site that doesn't have people being sarcastic,or ripping you to shreds because you spelled something wrong or dared to say something they didn't agree with with
I have to say that the rum is begiining to take effect.!"
Dreading waking up tomorrow morning not to see him looking up the stairs for his walk
Still he is being cremated and he should be back with us in a few days so it should ease the pain a bit, doesn't help as he is the third one we have had to say goodbye to.
Both of us appreciate your thoughts
Thanks again

Funky

My lad has just put his two female rabbits down due to myximotosis (sp?)

The remaining male is ok so far. How they got is is a mystery

Wife and i went on his normal walk last night about 01.00 and have just come back from the morning one. Met a couple of fellow walkers, first one was a regular funny thing he is called George and the dog is a Basset Hound named Ron and i am Ron with George!!. You can imaging the choas when we were both calling the dogs, me and him saying What to each other!! Started to well up a bit, but the second one wa a lady and her laLb and i got through that OK

Yep we had great times together and when we hink he could have spent the rest of his life in kennels (nobody wanted a 10yr old cross) we said he is staying with us.

Those people missed out on a lovely friend.

Thanks again for the kind words it really is helping

Gents and you all are.Thank you for those kind and comforting words. I shall copy them and put on the hard drive

Got a phone call from Dignity this morning. George has arrived and they wanted to know if they should return his blanket.
I asked if it could be cremated with him and mixed with his ashes. She said she would do that,.so when he gets back home in his new 'kennel' ( the other two will be so jeaslous!) he will be comfy
.They expect him to be back with us on Thurs and he will sit under the coffee table with the other two. Going to sort out two pics like we did for the others to sit on the coffee table, one when they arrived and the last one Nancy took.

Today has really been bad, the house is so empty and hollow, noe fcr to greet us when we walk up the path ,and no one to walk tonight. Get it over and tomorrow should be easier

Thanks again. I wish i could buy you all a drink. will let you know when he gets back home

Regards and Best Wishes ..Ron and Nancy

When we got him ,only his paws were white and his muzzle!

I think it was living with us that made him go ''grey' quick!

Lads,

You are all a tonic and very thearpeutic, and helping in a way you wouldn't think possible
Went for 'The Walk' this morning and deviated a bit to take in the parts the other two liked to do.
Just stood for a while watching the three 'ghosts' running about, and had a bloody good blub.
It helped a hell of a lot

Great Councillors every one of you and i will be a regular now to help the ones that follow to get through it.

Cheers

Ron

Oh and on another post there was asmall discuusion about vet fees

My vet had a brand new Jag each year and a plate with his initials an 1

Mine is a s/h Royce with my initials and 1 but with a year suffix. ( Bought with the redundancy and it is used as a wedding car) but the runaround is a 15yr old V70 I think it is something to do with the wage packet!!

Gents

George arrived back home and now sits with the other two. Nancy and I feel so happy, yes it is only his ashes, but it is still him

Here is a photo off all three Henry is on the left,Eric in the middle,George on the right

The two pics above are of Henry on the left and Eric on the right They are the first and last pics we took of them

They will soon be joined by two of George

Chronos

Seeing the pic of your dog reminded us of Henry, a water lab if ever there was one. We holidayed in Scotland each year and he loved going to Loch Lubnaig north of Callandar, once he was in collecting sticks we threw in,we couldnt get him out, and if anyone is up that way, the Lade Inn just south of the lake is a very dog friendly pub and brew their own beer. Lade Back and Lade Out spring to mind and good food as well

Well, life brings up some strange things!

When George went, Mrs Fox said 'No more, thats it' esp as she had just started on some Cancer treatment. Whilst i was a little bit saddened ant this, i accepted it.

Yesterday she said, lets leave it till the spring before looking for another dog

Not wishing to let her know i was jumping up and down with delight i just demurred and said ok

I felt as though Xmas and my birthday had come together
