Used to fish a lot as a youth, and bloke at work is a Carp man....

Getting into the idea of a day of peace sat by the water watching the antural world pass by.

Is it viable to get into cheaply and where the hell do I start ?

Used to buy my hook to nylons from Woollies in the day.....

Like most, its all bottom feeder lakes - Carp, Tench, some Roach and Perch....

Not interested in Carp trophies but just want some me time in a peacefull and pleasant environmnet.

Used to float fish a club lake as youth, and a bit of canal stuff - not intrested in canals now tho.

Have Tring reservoirs very close which are Carp and Tench stocked......

I've got a full carp fishing set up I want/need to downsize.

Various things in the garage to sell from rods/reel combo, bags, rig boxes etc. If you want to know brands / full list PM me and I can let you know in more detail...if you're still in Herts...

I used to mix my fishing up, summer evenings would be spent 'stalking' usually with some pretty good results from an hour or three fishing.
I used to save the over nighters / long weekends for later in the year.
Yhm sir.....

Intially a cheap light Match rig....

Mate has lovely little Shimano reel I can buy new for about £16

Was shown a Maver 11 foot Reality rod the other that looked very nice for the money.......

Currently just want to rig up a cheapy Match rig and fish some commerncial ponds to see if its something I want to get serious about.....

Ok, I visited a local and newly opened Angling Direct store, which, as a noob, is mind numbingly full of stuff I have no idea for...I found and bought a Maver basic float kit - lovely carbon 10 foot match rod and reel, some lead, couple of wagglers....add maggotts and go fishing....

So, I did.....

Mate told about a spot on the local canal that could be good....

Lots of the above going on.....and them the float dived under and started taking line ...eek....

Eventually got this little beast landed....

No scales to weigh it, but I think thats a PB for me from freshwater....

bit of an update.....

I bought a Maver Float starter kit, 10' rod, reel , just add bait deal...

Spent a few evenings on the canal and it worked well...

Went to Alders Farm today, a commercial and heavy stocked fishery...

Ended up smashing my PB with some stonkingly hard fighting 6/8lb carp....

Discovered how much I dont know, and also how big a buzz to land a hard fighting lump of Carp on 8lb line and a 10' match rod.....

Still buzzing.....biggest coarse fish Ive ever caught -and I left the phone in the car - Doh!!!!

Bought a new Feeder rod and Method feeder last week....

Spent the day at Park Fisheries near me......

Landed 5 decent Bream and last cats of the day, a new PB for me....

Probably very close to a double Common...
