Modena trip. A nice 40th present!
Discussion
It's the dreaded 40 tomorrow, not happy.
I understood that tomorrow morning we were departing for three days at my mum and dads static in Pembrokeshire, in aid of this.
When Sarah arrived home she said 'I've got a confession, we're not going to the van tomorrow'
On the sneak instead she'd been arranging for me and the best friend to have a few nights in Bologne, and more specifically tours of Ferrari and Lamborghini, including the factory floor of the latter, excited!!
Now, other than taking lots and lots of photos, can anyone offer any pointers of must do things around Bologne/ Maranello, EG food, touristy things, drinking venues etc etc?
Also, does anyone know if Pagani allow walk ins without prior booking?
Off to early bed about 9, so not able to reply all evening, he's here at 4.30am!

Make sure it's Bologna you head to. Pagani were fine with us dropping in unannounced a few years ago.
Maserati collection (Panani) at the Hombre farm is worth seeing. Buy some cheese there too.
A four star Marriott in Bologne is already booked. Great news RE Pagani, I'll print off their contact us page tonight. Maserati collection (Panani) at the Hombre farm is worth seeing. Buy some cheese there too.
Edit - yes, Sarah has just pointed out that Bologne is in France, and Bologna is in Italy. Good point!

Don't forget Ferrari museums in both Maranello and Modena and a second Lamborghini museum at Funo, not far from the factory at Sant Agata.
It'll be difficult to do all 4 in one day though.
We're having two nights there, so the second day is free for us to do as we please. Thanks for the pointers, I can Google these when we're out there. It'll be difficult to do all 4 in one day though.

Arrived home within the last hour, what can I say, an amazing trip! We both absolutely loved Bologna too, and are going to return again this summer, but next time ideally for longer, maybe a week.
Would anyone be interested if I uploaded photos?
Any photos yet?Would anyone be interested if I uploaded photos?
OK, to begin with. The Ferrari museum, at Enzo Ferrari's old house. For any that don't know events, he was born here in 1898, and at 20 years old (when his father died) he sold the house to fund his first racing car.
The new part of the museum, built in 2012. From above it is intended to mimic an engine cover.

And now on to the next Ferrari museum and the Ferrari factory tour. No photos were permitted in the latter.

Randomly a Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster hung on the wall. No engine, but used as the leather was worn, the splitter had scuffs, and the LCD display was scratched. Who knows, maybe a customer return after an engine blow up or something.
Ayrton Senna's first ever go-kart!
