Blackpool...where to stay?

My wife's parents (now decreased) used to go there, and my wife wants to do a weekend there just to see what it's like!

Is there a decent hotel we should book into, and is anything worth doing there?

Thanks for all the advice, I'll look into those hotels.

We're not snobs by any means, but we live in Kent and most of our costal towns are pretty dire. I imagine Blackpool is similar only more popular!

If we're going to make the trip then I'd at least like to stay somewhere nice as it's very rare that we get a weekend away.

If we travel up on the Friday and do Blackpool on Saturday, what's worth visiting on the Sunday. Could be anywhere on the route back to Kent.
