Looking to book a weekend away with Mrs JQ towards the start of March 2018. We'd be flying from Manchester. My first choice was Santander, but it doesn't look very warm at that time of the year. Second choice was Lisbon, but she's going there in June.

Any recommendations? By the sea would be nice, but not essential and it needs to be reasonably cheap.

Cheers

Cheers. Canaries is looking like a distinct possibility.

Blimey eek That's some distance for a weekend break. Which island?
Lanzarote, just want cheap sun without the kids, as we've numerous other holidays during the year.

We're only 10 mins from Manchester Airport, so 4hrs 20 mins direct flight isn't too bad when considering door to door travel times, especially as a flight without the kids will seem like a treat in itself.

Respect for schlepping all that way for a weekend though... smile
We do loads of active stuff, lots of city breaks, mountain biking weekends and ski trips with the kids - the opportunity to lie by a pool and read a book, if only for 48 hours is very very appealing.

Playa Blanca certainly appeals, we've been a few times - rented a villa in October when the kids were little. I didn't realise the other resorts suffered worse weather, I had been looking at them, will have a closer look at just Playa Blanca - would be more than happy to spend a weekend there.
