As we start to get to the end of a great 2018 season the mind moves to the horizon for 2019.

So who’s booked up already and where.

End? We're just half way!
Feb Half term week nearly over.
Many lower resorts struggle into March so in effect you only have what 3 weeks to go. Higher resorts still available but the costs will be far too high for so many.

Back on topic please second time in asking.

This thread is for people looking to book next season of who already have.

Not everyone can afford the time nor costs for 2x ski trips in one season or 2017 and have already been and are back so looking forward to the next jaunt.

I'll wait until half term finishes and might start thinking about it.

Any idea when half term is? anyone?
Kids are back on Monday here state school.
Private school get two weeks though so another week for them.

Half term appears to be generally this week based upon the prices of holidays. Is most popular week is now each and every year.

Which county are you in and when are state schools on half term?

Berkshire half term is now
Kent half term is now
Manchester half term is now
Sheffield half term is now
North Wales half term is now.
Somerset half term is now.
Derby half term is now

Those are areas friends with kids that I can list instantly have state school half term this week. The others I don’t know

Easter is 5 weeks this Friday away so if a school isn’t doing half term this week then it’s a long term after Xmas then a tiny one to Easter

I’d very much like to visit a Canadian resort in the 2019 season.

Manchester half-term is next week (as is Derby), I assure you. As a college/University attendee it's quite important for me to know the correct dates.

As for skiing I'm hankering for a bit of sun so might try and get in a sneaky Val T in late March. 2018.
The state schools in Marple (Manchester) are certainly not as they are down here on half term visiting friends and family (and hey never take kids out of school term time).

Looks like your friends are "wagging it" as we say in Stockport.

Here is the link to the Stockport Council website

https://www.stockport.gov.uk/school-term-dates/

and for those who just want the relevant information

Spring Term 2018
Term starts: Wednesday 3rd January
Half term holiday: Monday 19th to Friday 23rd February
Term ends: Thursday 29th March
That’s interesting - as one of the parents is a state school teacher (primary)!

I’m going to challenge them on this as it’s at odds with what they preach

Give over. It's halfway through the season. People will still be skiing in May this year.

Considering Saalbach again Jan 2019.

Back in 2017, the hotel we were looking at was £540 on Crystal if you booked in August I think. Same hotel/week when we looked later in November was nearly £800!
Good shout early booking discounts

Still months left of this season Taff . We're thinking of wandering out tomorrow , booking , what's that all about ?
The kids Easter break doesn’t match with my available time off in Work nor does the early June so next time I’m off with them is Aug —- not many resorts I know would be open then.

Plenty of other people have the same issue hence next year.

Off to Tignes for the usual pre-Christmas jolly. Need to figure out where in February or March 2019 for more slope action. I'm keen on Banff, but 'er-indoors is not so sure about the cost.

Currently looking at something a bit different from the usual half-term week in France and thinking of going to Finland in February. No real idea of what to expect but looks like there are a few small-ish resorts north of the Arctic Circle which sort of appeals. Floodlit skiing under the Northern Lights definitely sounds like an experience worth having for a start!

I imagine it's going to be pretty chilly but anybody skiied Finland before and have any tips, how to get there, do we need a car, things to do, not do...?
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/norway/hemsedal/articles/Ski-Hemsedal-resort-guide/

We’ve seen loads on online vids of this place looks epic and with younger kids you’ve got the Fact everywhere resort not just slopes are covered with snow.

It’s not busy either so nice - I don’t think it’s cheap though.

Booked La Tania for Feb.

Driving for the first time. Advice welcomed.

Driving the Discovery, do i need winter tyres or can i use normal tyres and snow chains?
It isn't compulsory to have winter tyres in France. You will need though snow-chains, as depending upon the conditions, it can be required to fit them.

Personally, even though it isn't a legal requirement, I would strongly advise to fit winter tyres. From your own family's safety point of view, they really do make a massive difference if the conditions become treacherous.
Cheers. I’ll stat looking for tyre deals
Given that one off cost of a set of winter tyres makes you think maybe flying is cheaper

I've never be to the resort in question but I have driven to Chamonix many times & I have never once had winter tires, sure get them for your car if you live out in the countryside in UK but if your a city dweller in UK don't waste the money, get a set of cheap snow chains.
if of course you plan to drive to alps 3 times a year or money is not tight, then get them.
And you do it in a 996 911!
