Anyone done it before?

Hiring a car for a couple of days in Bulgaria next week, and for an extra twenty quid I could upgrade from a super mini to a lucky dip. So I did it. I figured that surely the cars they are likely to have kicking about are more likely to be the expensive ones ?

I have an image in my head of picking up a brand new 335d or something ... or is it more likely that I will have paid an extra 20 quid to still get a Fiat 500 ...

I spent a bit of time looking at their list of cars. Jaguar F-Type, that will do, thank you very much...

If anyone was waiting in anticipation to find out what I got...Automatic Vauxhall Astra!

Not amazing, but decent enough. Better than a supermini and automatic might be quite handy on wrong side of the road.

I'd pay an extra twenty for anything else.
Sadly no haggling for something else as it was dropped off at an hotel...

It's decent enough, boggo spec though steelies and all, and can't work out the auto gearbox...if I floor it it just revs to 7000 without building much speed...do they all do that?! First time driving an auto...

Sounds like a CVT transmission, not a traditional auto. Horrible things.
Ahhh. That's why it doesn't tell me what gear I am in.

Yes pretty horrid unless you want to drive at a steady speed.
