Planning a week away, no more than a 4hr flight for a week. Needs to be somewhere family friendly but with some places to explore. Not interested in just being on a resort next to a pool for a week.

Need to have 2 bedrooms so 3yr old in own room.

Any ideas on where could be good?

My wife has said about some Eurocamp/Centre parks type places in Italy/Netherlands/france - anyone ever been?

Barcelona
Yep, nice climate that time of year, plenty of stuff to do with the older kid and everything is buggy friendly for the youngest.

We spent a week there with our (at the time) 9 month old and it was a pleasure.
We like Barcelona but already been this year (and 3 times before) so would go somewhere new I think. Went to the Zoo this year which our toddler enjoyed and loved the food market up las ramblas.

Lake Garda is an option. Apart from being great for adults - scenery, food, water sports - it also has a section which contain water parks/ amusement parks. Regarding accommodation we stayed a few times at the Parc Germano in Bardolino. They have two bedroom two storey apartments which are suitable for two kids with one in their own room. The hotel is excellent also - it has an adults only pool as well as the kids one and a great roof top bar.

There are also several Eurocamp style sites around the lake.We stayed at a particularly nice one near Salo but it was many years ago.

Main downside is October weather can be mixed.
Been looking at a Eurocamp place at Lake Garda, I really like it as an option as I love Italy and can get train to Milan or Venice quite easily which would be interesting (although I hear Venice is terrible for Prams!).

somewhere that doesn't involve flying if you have any sense
New forest is current preffered
UK option if we don’t fly.

Alternatively could get ferry to France/Holland so can load up car and go.
