Just finished booking up the flights and accommodation for a little holiday to Nice and Genoa. Four adults going.
One thing left to consider is how we travel between the two places mid-holiday. Options as I see it are:
1) Train. Expensive at over £100pp but only a few quid more for first class and route I imagine follows the coastline. Could be a nice experience.
2) Car. Could hire a car and drive it but main question is could I pick up and drop off in different location (and country)? We plan to visit Cannes and Monaco whilst in Nice so could hire a car for the week and cover these journeys too. Snag here is I hadn’t considered a car when booking the accommodation.
3) Minibus. Can’t imagine a minibus would cost more than £400 (what the train would cost). Possibly the easiest but most boring option?
Anyone made the same trip? Any pointers appreciated.
Cheers.

The drive is usually busy and not particularly scenic (lots of tunnels).
They do have Ubercopter in the SoF now (or at least did last year) and Heli Air Monaco operates from NCE and offer a service to Portofino which, although a bit more than the Nice-Monaco air taxi is not totally unreasonably priced, especially shared between a few people.
Certainly something to consider! Thanks. Wife and I have travelled quite a bit in Italy by train, and Nice to Genoa is not a particularly long journey. £100 looked expensive. I checked with an online service and they quoted around £35pp one way. Seems to take maybe 3 1/2 hours.

Funny you say that because if we were leaving “now” then it was £20. By putting in the date 8 weeks ahead it was £100. Maybe just wait until nearer the time. R.
Is the train a nice journey?

Glad you have got that sorted. I have not done that particular train journey.
If you are looking for somewhere to be based reasonably near to Genoa I can recommend the Astoria Hotel at Rapallo. Rapallo is a good base for exploring the Cinque Terre, Portofino etc.

Thanks for the info. We have our accommodation sorted via Air BnB but any recommendations for places to visit and eat would be appreciated.
