Evening chaps, off to Vegas for the first time in a couple months for a big birthday. Have a slight dilemma I wondered what the worldly wise and well travelled folk of PH would do.

Basically I want to hire a Corvette. Because Vegas. Issue is, while I can find one (Z06), it's expensive for a day, would need foreign national insurance ($150), on top of the $500 odd to hire the thing, plus keeping it in the hotel valet overnight (as 9-5 isn't long enough for what we want to do so they'll be closed by the time we get back), I'll be in for the thick end of $700 and that's without taking any of the multitude of additional insurances I'll no doubt be offered.

I've also found a Camaro SS which is for the fairly reasonable sum of $150 (need to check insurances but it's one of the large international firms), and could have that for just 12 hours as they open 24/7.

So, to those who have been and/or driven either of these things, is the extra $500 worth it for the Vette over the Chevy, or should I accept they're both drop top V8s, take the Camaro and save my cash for casino tables and other frivolities?

TIA smile

Thanks all for the input.

Addressing a couple of points made in the thread: we're looking for a car specifically to day-trip outside of Vegas for a day (most likely to Valley of Fire/Red Rock Canyon) not looking to drive up and down the Strip all day! Hertz was the company I was aware of and tried to book the Vette through but they do not have availability for the period we are there; annoyingly I only noticed the 'full list' fairly recently so probably could have booked it if I found when I looked initially last year. D'oh!

This Turo idea sounds like it might be the way forward, as then looking ~$200 which is a much smaller premium vs the Camaro. Still a little unsure how insurance works, although I'd most likely have an excess cover policy, do you need anything else? Most UK policies, while including 3rd party DOC cover, specifically do not cover hire cars, and I wouldn't risk 3rd party cover only anyway on anything north of a shed, and definitely not something like a Vette.
