Anyone care to speculate on the possibility of even being allowed in to any country over there (without quarantine) in the next month or so?

I have a ticket with Etihad which can be changed to any destination in that zone (so presume I could go to Bangkok, Singapore, KL, Manila etc) but
I have to take it before September 30th in line with their current ticketing arrangements.

Thanks for all the great info chaps - although it’s all rather depressing. Will there even be any airlines left in business to to take us to these faraway places if they stay off limits until next year?

Latest news is Etihad and Emirates now require a negative COVID-19 test to be carried out within 96 hours of flying with them.

I cancelled my ticket last week and got my money back as there just seems to be no short/medium term prospects for flying to Asia.

The CV-19 testing requirement from Etihad was actually the last straw (would need to get one to come home too) - but to be fair to them they refunded within a few days and they have actually been excellent throughout. Just a shame I cant fly with them for the foreseeable :-(

I think that unless severe restrictions like these are removed/drastically scaled down (or there is a good indication that they will be by some reasonably near fixed date such as January 2021) we will see the demise of multiple airlines in the coming months.

I was going to say thank you for taking the time to answer in such detail. But clearly you have all the time in world on your hands at the moment....

Seriously though - its such an extraordinary situation to be in. I love spending time in hotels - but two weeks without leaving the room is pushing it even for me! Enjoy the F1 at the weekend - I imagine you may be having a a late night or two due to the time difference :-)

I didn't find anything about certain countries being excluded from this scheme - the press releases seemed pretty clear to me - but being there you may have heard different?
