Plane etiquette… lurgy
Discussion
I am just putting this out there as I’m feeling sorry for myself.
Flew back from Singapore on Saturday. 14.5hr flight. We were one row behind the exit row as it allowed my very tall partner to have the elongated window seat.
I was trapped behind a very portly man who immediately reclined…annoying. However what was more annoying was that he was hacking away throughout the entire flight. Snotty nose, the works. Proper cold.
The Singaporean cabin crew looked uncomfortable but said nothing, as is the customer-focused way. I didn’t say anything, since I just didn’t want an uncomfortable flight.
However I’ve now come down with his cold and it’s bloody horrible. And for the third time in as many months I’m off work, which I hate.
I discussed this with partner and we couldn’t think of the correct answer. Should he have worn a mask? Probably. Is it reasonable not to travel when you’re that obviously afflicted?

I take greater issue with the immediate reclining.
Yes, it was quite annoying, particularly since his short female companion was as far back as she could go. Mark and i generally get extra legroom seats since he is 6'7" and make sure to be considerate and enjoy the fact we can stretch out in front without squashing the pax behind!

They did you a favour - it’s yet another set of antibodies you’ll have developed.
Planes are public transport and nothing more than that. There is zero reason for anyone to question anyone and frankly it would be none of anyone’s business - if you don’t like it, don’t fly. Simple really (as harass as that is)
That's a really depressing attitude 'not my problem m8' which is starting to become endemic. Consideration for others makes for a generally nicer world. You sound very much like a nearby neighbour who when politely asked to not park in a position whereby it was near-impossible to navigate the road simply repeated 'not my problem' and then criminally damaged my car, twice. Because nobody should be challenged in life.

Totally agree, if you pay for economy well, put up with non moving seats.
I say that as someone who 99.99% of the time travels economy btw.
Sat at the back of a RyanAir once where the seats can't recline due to the bulkhead. Dippyst in front of me reclines and now I can't read as my paper is too close to my face and I have to have T-Rex arms to eat my dinner.
I cam identify with the T-Rex arms they make the bloody seats so narrow its virtually impossible to eat nicely even under normal circumstsnces!I say that as someone who 99.99% of the time travels economy btw.

A good friend of mine was a captain of an aircraft which he flew regularly Edinburgh to Amsterdam, forget which aeroplane. he ended up with a brain tumour allegedly caused by poor seals on the air con allowing the poisonous lubricating oils in the engines. He subsequently died at a youngish age.
Allegedly the incidence of cancer of cabin crew, pilots and hosties is quite high.
I think there was an Aberdeen based charity fighting their case do not know how claims are going.
Nasty, I have heard this too. I think that the newer aircraft dont use bleed-off air from the engines for this reason?Allegedly the incidence of cancer of cabin crew, pilots and hosties is quite high.
