Paisley Freight - Alloy Wheel Shipping
Discussion
Dare I ask for any reviews?
I somehow think I thought with my wallet before my brain and booked a collection for some Alloy Wheels I won on eBay. Collection is today and delivery tomorrow (hopefully).
In a, somewhat, arse backwards way, I then looked for some reviews on them and... well... oh dear! What have I let myself in for?
someone please have a pleasant tale of happily ever after stories

Guy at the next desk here used them some time ago and had no problem.
Good news!A lot of the reviews suggest they outsource to City Link, but the problem lies with Paisley cancelling the jobs with City Link without informing the customer.
Fingers crossed! I have asked the seller to keep me fully informed so hopefully I will be aware of any problems immediatley.

I didn't have a good experience with them. Wheels went missing and it was only months later - after constant hounding - that the insurance money turned up.
Oh dear!I didn't add on the extra insurance as the wheels were not valuable enough. (less than £100)
Paid £27.99 for express service, booked at 8.47pm last night, supposed to be collected today and delivered to me tomorrow.
Was it a scottish guy? I had to ring him earlier as the address on the shipping labels were wrong, showing as one door down from me.
He jumped to conclusions pretty sharpish that "We don't have access to amend the address, it must have been your fault". I admitted it was my fault but was ringing to inform them and get it changed. After that he said he amended it and sent new labels via email. I thanksed him for his time and sure enough got new labels too...

Just had a reply from the seller saying TNT turned up but refused to collect as the wheels were not packaged! Grr!!
I checked all the info I had from the courier and nowhere did it state they had to be packaged!
The seller said he will refund my money but what do I do about the £27.99 I've paid for the courier?

Had this off the seller:
TNT just turned up but wouldn't take the wheels as they were not packaged....
This is why I stated collection in person !
I'll refund your £75
(although the ad stated collection in person, I made contact prior to bidding to see if a courier would be acceptable wise choice, eh?
Nowhere on their website, or consignment details does it say they have to be packaged!
I have offered the seller and extra £5 through paypal to go and buy some duct tape and tape the fkers up and I'll get back on the phone to Paisley.

If he said collect in person why did you try to buy them if you knew you needed a courier
Because some people say collection in person, but are happy with a courier collecting them. Anyway, seller is happy to package the item it Paisley will go back out.
Spoke to a lovely scottish lady who assures me it's "all over" their website about packaging and in FAQ's so will chalk that down to experience. She also said that Alloy wheel need to have a peice of cardboard covering the face of the wheel and then each wheel to be fully wrapped in bubble wrap as it may go down a conveyor belt and is for "protection".
I'll get back in touch with the seller to see if he is happy to do this if I chuck him an extra tenner. Paisley have said they will fully refund me if it all falls through.

"4 x Alloy Wheels and Tyres: Goods need to to be individually wrapped with cardboard over the entire alloy and then fully enclosed with bubble wrap with an address label put on each parcel. Please also check your item against our Restricted Items list."
It quite clearly states they have to be packaged, and tells you what's expected.
Yeah, I know It quite clearly states they have to be packaged, and tells you what's expected.
I'll take that one on the chin.
Seems a bit excessive though, don't you think?

If the seller is happy to wrap them, tell him to go to a garden centre and ask for green house insulation, most sell it. Its bubble wrap but the bubbles are about 3/4" in diameter. Cheaper than buying bubble wrap from the usual outlet.
Thanks! The seller is a business located on an industrial estate so most probably has some lying around somewhere. I offered the £15 as I felt like a bit of a tit messing him around. Especially as he was doing me a favour by accepting a courier! I will pass on the message though! Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
