Do you have an emergency go bag?
Discussion
My other half thinks its strange that I have a go bag, she thinks its so I can do a runner from her but it has stuff for us both in it.
I have always had one because of the time I spent on boats, and the random emergencies that have happened around me in the past.
If you don't know what one is, its a small bag full of useful stuff that you might need in an emergency. I keep it in the house and just forget about it.
In mine I keep:
Duck tape.
100ft of paracord.
2 t-sts.
4 socks.
Mult tool.
Flares.
£500.
Torch.
Waterproof matches + bit of rubber inner tube for waterproof kindling.
Pen pencil and paper.
Lock picks.
Small FM radio + batterys.
Hip-flask with whisky 50% so it can burn as well.
Super glue.
Spoon.
Sweets and chocolate.
Tiny water filter.
So am I just a paranoid idiot or do you keep a go bag, if so what do you have in yours?

I'm just a bit of a jinks and have been in a few fires houses and hotels. Times when i have been stood outside in boxers and t-shirt and noting else, wishing I had some socks or money to get a hot drink food or book another hotel. Once I really needed a torch so I could see down the stairs in a hotel that was on fire so I and the other 20 odd people could see the way down. The exit lights were st in the 80's.
It just evolved to carry more and more stuff over the years.

What kind of scenario are you preparing yourself for?
Mostly some sort of situation where I have to get out of bed and leave the house hotel or boat quickly. Its happened a few times to me, mostly due to fire so I don't know why I keep the matches in there.
The cash has come in useful for foreign speeding fines, and having to stop another night coming back form a holiday because of the snow.
Superglue was used to fix a low pressure petrol pipe leak, and a deep cut on my finger when I was on a skiing holiday. (I fell over onto a broken glass bottle in the snow)
Paracord has mostly been used for shoe laces and fixing broken suitcases.
Flares are very small and useless really, just left over from the boat and still in date.
Small FM radio + batterys, spent 4 nights in a hotel with no TV. Its sad but I missed some sort of noise.
Tiny water filter is used every time I go away, i don't like drinking tap water.
And so on really.

If you are in a situation to need a go bag you're unlikely to need £500. A shotgun or a big stick would be better for bartering purposes.
A gun of some sort would make sense for a come-what-may survival bag but it'd probably be foolish to admit to it on your internet forum thread.Probably calling it a go bag is wrong.
Ok lets call it a The Bag Of Useful st that I keep in the house or suitcase when I travel. Maybe calling it a go bag is a bit much.
I wasn't really planning on using it all in one big emergency, its just easy keep the things that might come in useful when something goes wrong all in one place.

I can't believe the amount of people that think a roll of duck tape is creepy?
Especially being a car forum, what do you do when something snaps, drops off, leaks, or any job that sellotape isn't man enough for?
Sometimes you need something to hold in place instantly, times when you don't have the time to drive 15 miles to Halfords or B&Q.
