At 14:37 I get an email which contains.

Sorry it took so long to get my passport scanned in, firstly I couldn't find it, then the printer wouldn't scan; it kept complaining about no device found; I had to get the young guy next door to come and help me after his school; he was able to reload some drivers or something he says; anyway it was able to scan again so you should find attached to this email my passport.
Having just retired, this money will come in very handy - do you know when I should expect it ?

Just to let you know I still don't have the box. It's in Spain seemingly as I've been contacted by a Diplomat David who's let me know that the box has arrived.
I'm keen to get this box and we might even be able to get it earlier as it's arrived at an airport not that far away from where my wife and I have a villa. My wife and her sister are currently there (about 15 miles away).
I do have one small problem - the diplomat is looking for payment for duties and as I mentioned previously I've not long retired so have very little money which is why I was looking to sell my car in the first place. I realise that my money problems will go away once I get hold of your box but for the time being were going to be short of being able to stump up the duty costs that the diplomat is looking for (couple of thousand Euros).
Without the car being sold I don't have enough money in the bank to cover that sort of expense; obviously once the box is out I can pay you back from my portion of the cash but scrambling about the money that we do have we're still about £200 short of what we need.

Seen your wife will be a problem because the box cant be handed to your wife but only you because your name and information was tagged there as the beneficiary not your wife.
Again have in mind that after 24hours of box arrival it attract more money, so i wish you let me know when you are sending the money but if not possible let me know so that i can let them know for the to keep your box in a safe place will you come for payment .

It certainly seems like you're blaming me. I'm deeply offended and have thought about nothing else for the past couple of hours, I had to go for a walk around our local nature reserve to clear my head and get my thoughts together.
I've come to realise that whilst you know my identity and everything about me; I actually know very little about you apart from what you've told me. I've got no idea where you are, what you look like etc. I would help me greatly if you could send a picture of yourself to me but I'd appreciate if you were holding a sign that said says CUSTARD on it; that way I would know that it's actually of you and no-one else. I'd also appreciate if possible a phone number I can call you on to discuss this - I don't know if the phone calls are possible as you're on patrol which is why I thought a picture would be the best option as this could be done at any time when you get the chance to relax.
On the money front - I'm managed to find another £50 which currently only leaves me £850 short at this time. Sadly I have no family to turn to as they are sadly no longer with us in this world.

I'd also appreciate if possible a phone number I can call you on to discuss this - I don't know if the phone calls are possible as you're on patrol which is why I thought a picture would be the best option as this could be done at any time when you get the chance to relax.
On the money front - I'm managed to find another £50 which currently only leaves me £850 short at this time. Sadly I have no family to turn to as they are sadly no longer with us in this world.
The picture would re-assure me that you are a good christian and trustworthy which will re-inforce my commitment to resolve this for us both.

I didn't let onto him of our agreement about the box and I made up some excuse about needing some house repairs done but that I would pay him back next month (allowing for some time to get the box). Any how, he agreed to give me some money.
So I've got what money I have in the bank, the money from my friend and I've also raided my £1 piggybank and have pulled together the money for the fees. I'll drop this off at the bank this morning in readiness to bank transfer it to pay the fees. I've attached a photo I took this morning.
I've fulfilled my side of this unexpected agreement and got together the money for the fees but I've still not had my picture of either you or one of your colleagues holding a sign that clearly says Custard. I don't think I'm asking for much to confirm our trust.

It is obvious to me that my request sounds strange, therefore I could hardly flatter myself with the thought that you could easily accept my request for what it is and provide me with the needed assistance. Nevertheless, my request is real and anything unserious is not my intention. Thus, I need all the considerations and help that you can give me. So, please kindly remove your doubts and help me. I've been to the bank and paid in all the money that's required for the Diplomat to pay the duties but I've made it clear to him there's one small detail that's missing(the requested picture) and I need settlement before proceeding. I don't know what his plans are for collecting it; I believe he has to travel there so I guess he can travel anytime.
For peace of mind I really need that picture - it's a small ask, progressing further depends on it. If you're camera shy; just get one of your colleagues to hold it; consider it the same as proof of todays date by using a newspaper. Since you won't have newspapers there, the sign is the best option.
As I said, I'm ready to go once my request has been satisfied. I'm as keen to get this completed as you are.
