Other than I'm making it all up!

I bought a "forever" project house in December last year. We've experienced a number of goings on that I'm trying to understand. The house is in two parts; one is early 1600s, other is 1700s. I can post pictures or whatever you'd like to see. Happy to hear thoughts!

Things that have occurred:

- Wife heard commotion in the master bedroom wardrobe. I had a look, nothing had moved
- Son, six, heard someone calling his name in his bedroom
- Son, six, saw a child in the garden that disappeared into bushes (have reaction on CCTV but actual area was out view)
- Wife saw a child in garden (not our children), looked again and disappeared
- Wife woke up to the bed in the master bedroom shaking
- Wife woke up to the bed shaking again, woke me up and I felt it too (nothing dodgy! ;-))
- Father stayed the night with just my older son (six). Heard footsteps in corridor that stopped at top of stairs (childlike steps) checked, child asleep
- Wife heard footsteps originating on unused top floor, heading downstairs to first floor and stopping outside bedroom near stairs to ground floor (childlike steps). Checked, child asleep. Footsteps like this have been heard three times, last one this evening
- Wife sees reflection of someone/thing in the kitchen from the living room regularly
- Finding lights on in rooms where they have been turned off, occurring more frequently over time and on a floor where there are no children

I know the house was used for the village for births as the local midwife lived in part of it. It was also owned by the local Baron, not that he lived here. Last occupants were an elderly couple, he was well known locally and elsewhere as a Ferrari restorer, he died in '98, but she lived here until 2015 before going into a home and lived a little longer. Unsure where he died, in the house or elsewhere. They had no children.

I don't think my father will ever stay again, he didn't sleep until the sun rose that night!

Is it all BS? Do I need an old priest and a young priest?

I'd like to think it isn't anything weird! I'm hoping to live here for 50 years, or however long I last!

Ok I'll play.

Describe the shaking bed incident in detail including intensity and what you did/ how it stopped, Did you get out of bed and feel vibration in the floor etc.
It was shaking to the intensity of a person grabbing the frame and making it move. Nothing extreme. It lasted 10 seconds. I thought about the floor, pipes etc. They all run on the outside of the wall and the floor is lime ash. It was odd and my heart was absolutely pounding. I'd felt similar, but lower intensity, when we had a earthquake tremor a while back in a different house. I even looked it up to see if there was any activity that night.

I've got a cheap CCTV setup with a spare camera. I can bring the DVR in from the garage and give it a bash.

I'll upload the video in the garden to YouTube.

Have you had your boiler serviced recently?

You may be suffering from low level carbon monoxide poisoning. It'd be worth ensuring you have a working alarm.
Yes, new CO alarm was my first purchase and the system has since had a number of inspections.

Wouldn't upload from the laptop, kept getting stuck at processing. A recording of a recording of a recording, but here.

I'm sat sorting out the strimmer. He looks over and sees something. Says he saw a child. I ask what he saw and he points exactly where.

Something odd goes across the camera at 10 seconds.

Just going to bed. Lights on again in a room no one has been in. Very odd. Frequency definitely appears to be increasing

Cameras are infra red, so will work. I’ll give it a go soon, but I’m away with work tomorrow night. I’d be interested if my wife noticed anything while I’m gone.

This isn’t the ghost equivalent of the Nazi bunker thread. Genuinely looking for good ideas.

All good explanations. That’s what I’m after.

The heating contraction is interesting. Primarily, the floors are lime ash (think ye olde concrete) and I’m not sure that it works in the same way as floor boards. I’ll sort some pics.

Time to sell!
Sod that! I got a bargain.

There is definitely a heightened awareness now, I agree. The one that struck me as odd was when my father stayed. I hadn't suggested anything, this was before a lot of the things mentioned. He assumed my son had got out of bed as he heard the footsteps, so went into the landing to see where he was. There was no one there, checked the bed and he was fast asleep. It took me a few conversations to actually get out of him what had happened. It initially started as, I didn't sleep well.

I've got one camera I can set up. I'm not sure if I should film the light switches that keep coming on, film the corridor/landing where footsteps are heard or film the disused top floor (used to be a dark room, still got the red safelight up there).

My wife and youngest spent two months in Italy over the summer. I had the six year old with me. The garden video happened then. Other than that, I can't say I felt or saw a great deal.

I'm in a delightful Holiday Inn Express tonight. I've been informed by my wife that she has heard footsteps five times within a short space of time. I mentioned the lights being on, increasing in frequency. Whatever is happening, it appears to be getting worse.

This was a pleasant thread until the usual shouty types turned up with their size 12s, determined to shout anybody down who has a different viewpoint to them.

Yes, there are two sides to every story, but the aggressive responses are OTT and condescending as usual.

I hope the OP doesn't dump the thread. I'm genuinely interested in the outcome.
I’m still here. I’m back home tonight and will sort something out this weekend. Nothing to lose, other than a little bit of effort. I’ll post a pic of the set up.

Hello. Home again. I’ve attached a picture of the corridor where activity has been. Will set up tomorrow. At the end is the hot water tank, right is bathroom, just in front of that are the stairs to the top floor, on the left is the toilet.
