7 Days in December - no rules - what would you do?
Discussion
As per title - I have a forced 7 days off work. Week leading up to Xmas (I have to be back on 23rd at 19:00 for a party)
No limits on location within reason .......(NZ probably too far for a week etc).
I need ideas.
Initial thoughts......
1. Motorsport training somewhere in the world (I'm experienced, not novice)
2. Additional Motorbike training (i'm experienced but not expert)
3. Scuba (total newby)
4. Flying , Gliding, Helicopters? (have several hours in each)
5. Snowboarding (where will be good Snow? - Europe has been crap before Xmas in the last few years)
6. Parachuting course (I've done a couple)
7. Hire a motorbike and ride from somewhere to somewhere? (last Xmas went across Australia on a Royal Enfield)
8. Take a car.........into Europe for adventures?
9. Thaliand, Martial Arts course?
10. Something else entirely - maybe a sailing course ? (newby)
I don't want to waste the time at home..............as I rarely take too much time off. My last holiday was last January (other than weekends away).
I'm so interested to see what hopefully like minded people, experts in many fields would suggest........
Edited to say - GF is working - so going stag

If it's got to the point that you are being forced to take time off I'd spend some time figuring out why that is. It sounds trite but no one in the cemetery wishes they'd worked harder or longer.
As money seems not to be an object; what's the one thing your 7 - 10 year old self really wanted to do?
No i'm fine - I am being forced to take the time off - as I'm a Consultant - and so they don't want to pay my rate for that week (as it's shutdown). As money seems not to be an object; what's the one thing your 7 - 10 year old self really wanted to do?
So I want to use the week in the best way possible.
7 year old me wanted to be a racing driver..........I've been doing that a long time but December isn't the best time.

See the sights, do some Thai boxing, head back.
Lovely.
that's interesting - I've just emailed these people http://www.motorbikethailand.com/motorbike-tours/a...Do an MX Course

I'm didn't know if my experience (never been offroad on a bike) would be good enough for Motorcross?

I'd do scuba bearing in mind some study / paper test and video watching in a room will be required.
Further more I'd do it here http://www.devotion2ocean.com/ and stay at the attached hotel which is almost walking distance from the airport.
Fabulous - thank you for that link............great suggestion as a complete Novice - that would workFurther more I'd do it here http://www.devotion2ocean.com/ and stay at the attached hotel which is almost walking distance from the airport.
great ideas chaps - love them all.
I have a new Triumph (less than 2k miles) - I could literally just set off South on that..............see how far I get :-)
love the idea of riding to Italy.
In Australia last year - I did a 19 hour stint............set off early. There was a particularly stunning girl waiting for me in Melbourne........but maybe that's the easiest option?!
It has nobbly tyres..........how good are they in the snow

Best 7 days I had was to borrow a friends Moto Guzzi and rode it to a small town on the coast in Tuscany, parked up for the week, small and inexpensive hotel, slept the first day on the beach, rest of the time took coach trips to vineyards and just relaxed with a load of people. Cheapest and best holiday I can remember.
did you set off from the UK??Bill said:
The Alps look to be starting the season well, although it could all thaw. We're looking at Val Thorens for that week. (There'll be five of us in a motorhome in the car park, so come and say hi! )
Diving might be a bit tight, ideally you want to do the learning and pool work here before you fly out rather than spend a couple of days there doing it.
Or there's always something like this: http://www.supermotoland.com/Supermoto-Holidays-an...
