What possessions have you given away or binned that you have later come to regret in later years? I can think of a few:

  • Original metal Meccano– got rid prob late 80s when I was too old for it. The new stuff my sons has is nowhere near as good
  • Lego Technical set – I actually kept it (was the one from the 1980s where you could build the car or the dragster) -original box and 99% parts still there. But I made the mistake of giving it to my son when he was too young for it, and consequently most of the bits have got mixed in with the other Lego and the box got trashed
  • Hacker record player – got rid (as in took to jumble sale) 25+ years ago when helping my mum have a clear out. In retrospect, it was a lovely old thing that belonged to my late father. I see identical ones on eBay go for really strong money!

There was an old butler sink in the garden of our house when we moved in, left behind my the previous owner. When I revamped the patio, I dumped the old sink.

A few months later when i was at a garden centre, I noticed they were selling relaimed buter sinks (in worse condition than the one I dumped) for £80+. Oops
