I'm 52 so can qualify for this thread. hehe

So apart from obvious things like mobiles and the internet, what technology do you really like?

There are two things that never cease to amaze me.

Sky Plus: Pausing telly, digital radio, recording so much and it changing viewing habits in as much as I can't recall the last time I saw an advert on telly.
Freaked me out a bit last week as live telly was on at my sister in law's and I picked up the remote to fast forward x30 and nothing happened. laugh

Shazam app on my phone. What witchcraft is this? Two years of randomly hearing tunes, Shazaming it and finding out instantly what it is. Probably my favourite ever thing of the 21st Century, something Joe 90 would have had. cool

Anything else you think is briliant and needs sharing?

Late 40’s but I wished I had shazam in the 90’s when I heard tunes in the clubs and didn’t know what they were called.
The times I tried finding some Hackney/Dalston/Brixton rave tune in a techno record shop by trying to explain it. hehe

Well I've got some news for you, technology gone bad. Apple have bought Shazam, and are changing so that it only suggests tunes that are available in the apple store, and offers to sell them to you. This sort of st is why some people are so against apple.
Wow! That's pretty st. frown

To the oldies: have you noticed an acceleration of the acceleration?

With machine learning, things are only going to get even faster going forward. At an even more accelerated rate - completely exponential! Amazing.
Yep.

Somebody earlier mentioned the Sega Mega Drive and I remember seeing Sonic for the first time on my mate's one. Had to go out the next day and get one, it blew me away. laugh

We'll soon be at Skynet. frown

I had a go of an occulus rift at weekend,

I wasnt expecting a lot from it, but the thing is really impressive,
I was in the Lancaster raid over Germany
fantastic bit of kit
Interesting.

What's the range of stuff that you can get for it like/and price?

Worth getting or technology too new?

Will it be outdated quickly?

So many questions! laugh

Music streaming services, has improved my music listening no end. No more having to listen to filler tracks anymore and a playlist to suit every occasion or mood.

Just need to decide what to do with the boxes of CDs in the garage now as they are now redundant.
I still have tonnes of CDs and vinyl in boxes under the bed, the cabinet in the front room and various other places.

Haven't played a CD in a couple of years now, but I can't bring myself to get rid of them.

The tablet is Bluetooth connected to the amp, so what ever comes into my head gets played via Youtube. The quality is decent and I can usually find what I'm after. smile

How do you know what you want to play? I can never remember the names of bands I like, so tend to end up streaming the same few artists on a regular basis.
I browsed my CDs the other day and was surprised by how many artists i hadn't played in years
Well there are thousands of tracks in my history, then I might put in a generic search like '60s Garage Punk and a load of tracks will come up.

Then there are odd little Youtube channels like Captain Bee Fart, which play excellent new obscure stuff. smile

I would wait for the Gen 2 products to come out - the limitation at the moment is the hardware required to run the games (if it's games you are wanting to play) since you needed the fastest of the fastest PC hardware right now for a good experience, and that's £1200+....excluding the £300-600 headset/gear. Also the headsets themselves have a limited field of view, which gives you a bit of a blinkered experience...I want 120 degree FoV then I'm jumping in.
I'll give it a miss then. hehe

I think my wife's favourite thing about having the internet on her phone is watching old Top of The Pops and instantly picking up her phone and seeing what they look like now.

I tend to do that with old films to see if people are still alive or not.
