Along similar lines to the Frivolous purchases thread, let's see how we get on with this:

What did you buy, how long did it take to arrive and is it any good?

I've bought a few things from Wish and am shocked at how little you can pay, some items are postage only so it costs you a couple of quid for an item and it delivered half way around the world.

My most used item is a blowtorch type "Tin Pioneer" lighter bought a year ago for £2 and it's still going strong, it took about 3 weeks to arrive.

I don't see the point myself. The same tat can be gotten from UK sellers on Ebay most of the time. For the slightly more substantial items it's almost always cheaper to buy in the UK.
These suppliers are the ones that the UK sellers get their stuff from, show me where you can get a 1m Android endoscope for £5 from in the UK.

Wish newbie question. I've just signed up, some stuff is on there as being free, and not just items that would be really cheap anyway for example LED flashlights. What's the catch? I'm guessing there is one?
Sometimes with the "free" stuff you pay for shipping alone. There doesn't seem to be a catch, I've had a couple of "just pay shipping" items for a couple of quid and they have been fine (don't expect amazing quality though)

Drat! missed out again on a drill priced at £2000 for a quid!

Beginning to think these "limited quantity deals" don't actually exist at all
Noooo really?
My theory was that they are a bit of a scam to get the £1 plus shipping from a number of people and then have some steps involved in processing the refund that not everyone will complete successfully in the limited time.
I thought you only pay if you're "the one"

Bought a cheap Chinese cnc spindle for $100. Too good to be true. It arrived in just over a week and worked and was actually not bad so I thought I'd got a good deal.

A month later I get a invoice from fedex for £57. With almost impossible to understand charges. But it looks like they have whacked a large standard fee on for simply paying the customs, in addition to the vat. So £80 odd pound for the item and getting on for another two thirds for free postage.

Bit of a pain because I had no say in who they used to courier it. Be wary not to use free postage and specify who you want to courier it. China post or china air post very slow but very cheap in this regard. DHL £11 standard fee + vat so much more reasonable.

Also trying to argue the point with Fedex is a real pain. No one to talk to, everywhere closed, no replys to emails querying charges, but still happy to ramp up charges for non payment
I had similar years ago and managed to get the charge waived as I didn't ask them to clear/ deliver the item. Not sure who they passed it on to but I didn't have to pay it.
