As per thread title.

My three lads, all in their thirties never carry cash despite being in extremely well paid jobs...I mean not even a fiver, everything is paid for by card.

I don't expect them to carry £500 or anything, but a small float of around £30 in their wallets wouldn't be a bad idea, for example my local Chinese only accepts cash. (See Chip shop thread)

What happens if they go into a small shop in the middle of nowhere and want to buy a Mars bar?

Kids eh?

38 here, rarely go shopping as my wife does all that - and day to day work things are all on accounts.

However i always have cash and never use a card, helps me keep track of spending!
Start the week with £10 and gets spent mostly on pies and dr pepper.
Can’t remember the last time i used a card, always have at least £100 on me
Good man thumbup

No I'd say old people eh? The local Chinese doesn't take cash so they need to carry it? Bizzare are you saying you want them to buy you take out?
Eh?

The point obviously is if you go in there without cash you won't get served, but if you kept a small amount of cash you would be OK. There are many places that will only accept cash, OK they may have to take cards in ten years, but I'm talking about now.

What happens when you want to pay the window cleaner £7.00, do you do a bank transfer?

Cash is here to stay for a few years yet.

You London yuppie lot are totally detached from reality, I bet you go round using phrases like Ballpark figure and Blue sky thinking.

The world's gone mad biggrin

I'll continue to be happy to be a Luddite then.

I showed this thread to my lads and they laughed.

£7 for a window cleaner?? Do you live in The Twits’ house?
I was only using that as an example. He wanted to put the price up to £16 ten years ago, so I fired him off.

Done them myself since, saved a fortune and do a better job.

Ffs! Just keep 200 quid in your wallets for emergencies.

It's not rocket science.

You can still use your cards and silly phones.
