Strange neighbour problems....Cameras..

Having some issues with my neighbour (well the guy directly behind my house).
My house is a 4 bed detached which is on a canal side, my neighbours house backs onto mine, we have lived her over a year now and its lovely, no trouble and its a very quiet neighbourhood.
But.... Over the last few weeks my neighbour had started to erect camera's about his property and some strange things have been happening. He has put one camera on the top of his shed, its a motorised affair but it basically looks into the gardens and windows of all the neighbouring houses. Over the course of the last couple of days I have noticed each morning that the camera has been sat at a fixed position looking into my two back bedrooms, most concerning is that one of these bedrooms is occupied by my 6 year old daughter. I approached him yesterday for a quiet chat and it didnt really go too well as he started to get aggressive and so I walked away before I showed him what I have learned in my 8 years of muay thai. Not wanting to start a war with him but I am getting more and more pissed off with this camera, one suggestion was to cut the
er down or spray pain over the lens but I am not at that stage yet!
Thing is I have a lot of glass (conservatory, big windows, french doors) through the house, so he basically can see everything and its not starting to annoy me that he is invading my privacy.
I am not gonna accuse him of anything dodgy (he was trying to get me to call him a paedo lol!) but I am not happy and am considering involving the police, I havent had a chat with my other neighbours as yet but intend to do so.
Would the police be interested in helping me out? Or am I being very paranoid?

thanks for the suggestions guys, I have spoken with the local cop shop and they will send the community bobby round for tea and biscuits at some point. I asked if I would be allowed to erect a banner over my back fence to block his line of sight, they said this may provoke him lol!

HiI asked him why his camera (which is motorised by the way) always seemed to be pointed at my property and asked him if he suspected me of harbouring illegal immigrants I had imported using the canal, this was in a jovial way to begin with. He stated it was for security purposes, I thanked him for his concern but reminded him my German Shepherd "patrolled" my garden and so no-one would get out if they got in. I did say that it was none of my business if he had a load of cameras mounted watching his own property, which he has, but I wasnt happy with this one camera on top of his shed always being pointed towards my house and garden. This camera is very different to the others as it is controllable and he either sits in his shed operating or somewhere. He did say it was for the security of everyone and I am just not appreciating his efforts, to which I asked him what security issues did he have, he then started getting mouthy saying that there are "prowlers" at night etc... I called BS on this as my dog would go mental if there was anyone near our house, at this he got all flustered and started pushing me away from his front door. I just walked away but while walking away he mouthed off a bit, but I let it drop.
My next door neighbour (who's a good mate) and the camera is reachable with a hammer from his far corner fence didnt realise it was there till this morning (its only gone up in the last week or so) and so has now been on the phone going mental. Apparently his wife has a habit of dressing in their spare room in the mornings so as not the wake him up, and its within this camera's line of site!
In other news he dodgy neighbour does have an open WiFi connection and I aint have tempted to login and have a mooch about his lan and see what sort of images/videos he has a pechant for! I know its bad but fairs fair in love and war!!

Could it be one of those wi-fi cameras that has it's own in built webpage thingy to allow you to control it. I'd definately "accidentally" log onto his network and see if you can find the camera.
Me being a Network Admin for my real job means I wont get away with the "sorry gov I logged on by mistake" but I can make it as if I was never there
just wasting my afternoon using ms visio to do you all a nice diagram!!

I just added the foilage and piano (also sneaking in a ping pong table) in the conservatory as a way do disguise it being just a really huge toy room for my daughter!!

Dave (from MILF cottage) has sent me a text saying he is borrowing some ladders from his work to get onto the sheds in the corner so he can take a good whack at the camera, and I have a voicemail (we get terrible mobile signal at work) from PC Plumb wanting to nip round for tea and some ping pong! Looks like tonight may be a fun night to not go training

Playing a bit of Devil's Advocate here, but are you sure the camera is motorised to change its angle of elevation as well as sweep horizontally? He might just be scanning the back of his garden and it looks like he's scoping out your place?
I'm just a little surprised that people are jumping on a guy who in all honesty is probably trying to protect his property. Why don't you buy an IR camera and see what he's really doing in his tool shed? Then you might have some evidence!
I'd also say that if you're seriously planning to log into his wifi network, then you're actually being more of a reactionary than I thought and probably worse than him.

It is deffo motorised as it was spinning around like a top the other night when I was allowing my dog to have a pee in the back garden and she tripped the PIR of my floodlight. I could see it rotating and stop overlooking his garden, and I tried to sneak up on it also later that night to see what it/he was doing and it was moving around and tilting looking for me (I had sneakily removed the fuse from my floodlights so they didnt turn on with me creeping up to it) at one point it was pointed at AN Other's house looking into a bedroom window. I dont really know these neighbours (AN Others) and dont really want to go knocking on their door to tell them.I'm just a little surprised that people are jumping on a guy who in all honesty is probably trying to protect his property. Thing is that the camera isnt that noticeable if you dont know its there, its not really that big and cause its on the roof of his shed you wouldnt see it unless you were looking for it. (its not as big as in the diagram!) Its a completely different model and colour to the other camera's, this one is black the others are beige.
Will be interesting to see what the PC says later and if MILF Dave has destroyed it despite being asked not to by myself and his own wife hehe
Well just got home, 2 sherpa vans and a panda car outside my house!

has indeed taken a hammer to it, this was after the nice local PC saying that he would have to seek advice from "higher-ups" as Voyeur Vince was claiming it wasnt connected to anything! Voyeur Vince responded by chucking an anonymous brick through MILF Daves greenhouse 
. Dave then went round for a chat, then police et la turned up and calmed everyone down...

Its too dark for piccies at the minute and I have been ordered not to venture into the back garden and mooch as its still going off (despite the police coming and going!) Been told not to get involved between MILF D and VV as "she" doesnt want bricks through our lovely big conservatory

Dave did say he did cut a couple of cables which were cleated down coming from the camera into the shed so it looks like it was a wired model.I feel like VV giving you updates but there was plenty of arguing and the familly in AN Other have been asking questions too
I am not going to fuel the fire by telling them that the very camera was pointed at their windows. Just gotten rid of the latest batch of people to our house, MILF Dave was here and the husband and wife of AN Other came over too, apparently Mrs AN Other has been getting creeped out by her next door neighbour and had mentioned that he was always watching her (admittedly she is rather hot, dark hair, dark eyes... I digress). We also had the chair of the local community watch here asking what all the trouble was, he was sent packing with his notepad and told to contact the police if he has any concerns.
Reason the PC earlier didnt do anything is that he honestly didnt know the proceedure and had passed it onto a sargent to deal with, who had been called away. When the 999 call (MILF Dave's visit to VV) came in the sargent was already looking into the issue. But due to the enthusiasm of MILF Dave with his claw hammer he was unable to prove that it was connected and monitoring anyone. Police have now advised MILF Dave to not run in and attack any cameras but to contact them and also to take "counter" photos of the offending item.
Mrs Vince Voyeur went round to AN Other's house and appologised profusely and promised to visit myself and MILF Dave in the morning (I hope she isnt too early as I want a sleep in ) She said that Vince Voyeur was a bit daft in the head sometimes and didnt think things through properly when he went ahead and did things. Mr AN Other (real name Keith btw!) informed her that it was not an excuse and he would be discussing the matter with the police first thing in the morning. Mrs VV understood and promised that she would speak with the police also.
In other developments MILF Dave and myself have both printed out " off you tt" onto large sized posters and stuck them into the rooms which we think were being watched, so if Mr VV gets a bit antsy during the night and pulls out his binoculars or wankoscope he will have something to read, I have moved my daughter into the front bedroom till we hear back from the police. I am also going to order a webcam for her PC in her room and set it watching the boundary during the day (one of these motion sensor type ones which you can monitor from a web browser) from my office as this is when Mr VV (he is a postman apparently) is most active with his security measures. It probably wont work but it may make him think twice about doing anything dodgy.
In naughty developments I did manage to get onto his WiFi and manage to take control of his router (admin/admin on a netgear lol!) and have the lan IP of his laptop, which was off unfortunately but I have set a ping up and as soon as it logs onto his Lan I will know as it will mail my blackberry. From there I may have a quick perusal of his laptop. I know this is naughty and very bad but I have my concerns and would like to make sure he isnt selling videos of me chasing my OH round the house whilst dressed in only chaps and a cowboy hat (not that it has ever happened ) I do worry I may find something even more nasty and sinister but will be pleasently suprised if he just has normal monkey pron on there or something.
So thats the update, and I hope to get some photos in the morning but cannot promise as lots of curtains are twitching now

Apparently Mr VV has been suffering depression of late and has taken to locking himself away in their spare room instead of spending time with his familly etc... Turns out he has got a bit of a fetish for porn etc but would never harm a kiddie (this was in her words not mine!) She has promised to get him some help and is nipping to the cop shop laters. she was in tears asking that we dont beat him up etc... I told her if he was ill they need to seek help as soon as possible.

The police wont investigate his computer as there is currently no proof of him being a paedo/perv and the camera sounds like it was just hooked upto a monitor, I dont know if the police will be able/allowed to take his pc away and forensically inspect it. No doubt he has wiped his comp by now and probably run a data shredder through it or even replaced the HDD, I havent had a ping return from it as yet so asume its either off or in the canal!

Sorry I havent updated this but this is what has happened:
MILF Dave lost it over the weekend (weekend just gone) as he was repairing his greenhouse glass and noticed VV watching him from the "diesel" window. MILF Dave decided to drop his pants and show his arse to VV, who then produced a camera, took a photo and called the police!
MILF Dave is now warned off from VV which is a real shame MILF Dave has decided to continue the war in a covert fashion.
Apparently (and I dont know how true this is ) AN Others had a screaming fit at VV in the street when they seen him and ended up with Mr AN Other being dragged away by another neighbour before planting VV in the canal.
I myself have taken great delight in leaving "Feck off you pervert" signs in the windows of my daughters windows and keeping her blinds tightly shut.
Just pisses me off that VV got away with a verbal telling off by BiB but no real power to stop him letching, have seen VV a few times whilst walking my dog and each time he has scurried off.
His WiFi is still unlocked and I am still very tempted..... MILF Dave wants me to show him how to access VV's PC so he can have a shufty at what he has on there but I havent had the heart yet....
