As above - how do I complain about a "number" that I didn't get?

As we was in a bit of a mobile internet blackspot on Sunday at 1545, I called 118 118 (uber reluctantly) to find out the opening times for TK Maxx (don't ask). The (idiot) woman I spoke to asked "you want the opening times of TK Maxx on Sunday in Shorpe"? I said that I did and she said that they'd text them to me.

What I got was this:

As you can see, I replied "Yes" as I thought I was being asked if that was what I wanted - As you can see, I neither got the opening times nor a phone number...

I called 118247 who, at least, told me that they couldn't get me the opening times, but at least gave me the phone number.

I know it's petty, but it's the principle - I've asked for information, been charged for it and didn't get what I paid for. I cannot, however, find out anything that outlines how to and who to complain to about it. Does anyone here know how I might go about complaining as Google and the 118 website show nothing?

JTW

Worst, look-how-cool-my-phone-is post, EVER.
No, that's reserved for those that say "there's an app for that"....

Doesn't it say at the end of the text 'no charge for this message'?
Yes, but I called 118 118 to start with, so I'd've been charged for that...

Chalk it down to the service you expected and get on with life?
Given the hoops that I'd probably need to jump through, I might have to, but it's a PITA....

FFS, I've already told you what you need to do. Some people just love to moan and be annoyed.
Only sometimes :P

Looks like a HTC Hero, nice phone.

To be honest it sounds like they did you a favour and saved you from the horror TX MAXX in Shorpe. How could that place be good enough for 3 Xs?

Still love that the swear filter censors that.
It's a Palm Pre and I didn't want to go, the OH did....

I went fking tonto and got their chief exec on the phone bowing and scraping.

Dear JTW

Thank you for your email drawing this matter to our attention.

May I firstly apologise for the poor level of service you have received from our Company. I will certainly be looking into this matter further for you and as a gesture of goodwill would like to arrange a refund for the cost of the call and text you made to 118118.

Unfortunately as we are not your service provider I am unable to credit your telephone bill directly, but I am able to refund you in either of the following ways:-
  • A postal cheque for the cost of the call and text made to 118118
  • 6 free texts to our service (normally charged at £1.00 per text)
  • A donation for the cost of the call & text made to the NSPCC on your behalf
If you could forward me your address details and the form of refund you require I will action it immediately for you. Should you choose the refund cheque option we do advise 28 days delivery, if you would prefer the free text option these will be arranged with 12 – 24 hours and a confirmation text will be sent to your phone when they become active.
Sorted - Shockingly simple smile
