Great posts everyone.
I always like reading those posts where people have spent the time to add all of the information around what they are doing and trying to achieve.
I'm training as per normal and coming to the point now where I'm going to start dieting down for summer.
I have been doing mixing my training up every 3 months from strength to size and have seen a great deal of growth this year from it to the point where I'm buying new clothes now. Some large clothes no longer fit me very well (5'10 15.5st) although some of that is down to the fact I'm quite blocky in shape.

Nice pic Pete!
I was up too! Having a run along the beach this morning.
In my last personal transformation thread I often posted pics of the morning run!
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
I don't really run for the fitness but because I enjoy the quiet time along the beach in the morning, I find it helps me clear my head and think about everything going on.
'Fasted Cardio' (exercise before eating) however is great for fat loss!

LordGrover I did a google search for 'Pistonheads myprotein referral' and you were the first code I found. Enjoy whatever benefits you get from me putting your code in on my order..
Cheers dude. Frankeh said:
'Have you been working out?'
Heard it twice in as many days from people I'd not seen in a few weeks. Feels good!
Wait till you've been doing it a while and you'll get the steroid questions.Heard it twice in as many days from people I'd not seen in a few weeks. Feels good!
Dude in the pub on Friday night 'So mate, can you get me some steroids so I can be your size'. Although I don't mind so much I take it as a complement.
Or the other ones are 'person x says you are only bigger than me 'cos you take steroids' yada yada.
The strange thing is, I'm a little above average but I'm not big like a lot of folk in my gym.
People in the workplace/pub say the most random things when it comes to training.
I know I've posted this before but the guru 'Kevin Skip Hill' dvd is available to watch for free below, top guy Skip and even better allowing his DVD to be watched for free.

Skip advocates carb cycling and achieves astonishing results with it but then you'd expect that with a guy who most put in the top 5 trainers in the world.

This must be where I'm slipping up, I've increased everything and getting leaner isn't happening anytime soon.
I'll be in for this thread as well, get something posted up later in the other thread. Been suffering a temperamental internet connection over the last week or so.
The key bit is decreasing carbs to something a bit unusual. ISTR OC said he eats about 100g of carbs a day. I was aiming for 150g but it's pretty easy to go even lower. Every time you feel hungry, just eat meat, cheese, nuts, seeds or a vegetable. I bought a load of ready cooked chicken breast</lazy git>.I'll be in for this thread as well, get something posted up later in the other thread. I achieved all of my huge transformations on a low carb diet, it seems to me that is how the body was designed to work. I for the most part don't worry about small amounts of carbs from fruits/veg etc but I also make a big effort to avoid all processed carbs.
Zero carb (Ketosis) is even more effective although I know I can get very, very lean just going low carb. Ketosis is a lot of effort and the side effects of bad breath are not particularly nice!
I also have a day off a week (Saturday) where I eat and drink whatever I please (usually pizza/whiskey/beer etc) and still lose a lot of bodyfat.
Everyone is a little different but this works very easily for me, suits my taste and makes me feel great, I feel so much healthier and I have a lot more energy when avoiding carbs.

Probably 15-20kg lighter and ALOT fitter (7 miles 3 times a week plus gym sessions and ice hockey a few times a week) as I mentioned before I tend to go all out when getting fit/losing weight so 3 months I'll be back there
I'm the same buddy, I either doing it at full effort or I'm not doing it!Pete102 said:
Just having this conversation with the wife, I lose weight really easy but put it on quickly. I imagine as I get older i'll fine it harder to lose weight so really need to lose it and keep it off
I'm the same here too if you've seen my own thread challenge 2 you'll know what I mean! Now I eat a lot but stay low carb and with the exercise I easily stay lean.

4,2,2... FAIL.
Oddly enough though after those 3 heavy fail sets of 42.5KG I can still rep 40KG respectively afterwards. Adding a few more 40KG sets on. Can't hurt things!
Try 5,5,6 with 40kg. Then 5,6,6 with 40, then 6,6,6. Then you'll do 5,5,5 with 42.5 no problem.Oddly enough though after those 3 heavy fail sets of 42.5KG I can still rep 40KG respectively afterwards. Adding a few more 40KG sets on. Can't hurt things!
Another person today asked me 'when that happened' and then made a kind of flexing pose.. Feels good, but actually demotivates me somewhat amazingly.

Oh, suddenly I'm reminded of a tip I think LostBMW gave me. Try using a bit of momentum from the body so you get used to the weight. Obviously, be careful you don't smash your face with the bar.
Momentum is good if you are comfortable you can support the bar, otherwise you've got an uncontrollable weight coming back at you. I personally like LostBMW a lot but I fear doing this can be dangerous in terms of injuries since you really aren't in full control of the weight.

I don't know, maybe I'm being too cautious but my personal experience is seeing folk losing control of the weight and getting hurt far too often.

Name: Sushi
Age:33
Height: 1.8m
Weight: 125kg
Body Fat: Yes
Goal: To lose 25 kilogrammes, I've started swimming daily and eating sensibly. I'll also be starting up some form of martial art again (previously 6 years wing chun)
main reasons for wanting to get fit are: I've really let myself go over the past 10 years, I used to be very active playing rugby and doing wing chun, but a ruptured disc after a collapsed scrum put paid to that and I've never really recovered mentally. I have twin boys, turning 2 in May and I'd like to be able to keep up with them, I also think I need to set them a good example as I can't let them get like my lardy ass has.
Right now my plan is to keep up the daily swim, or at least some form of cardio daily to shift the initial weight, I'm swimming 30 minutes every morning, and looking to do at least 3 evening classes a week. If I can't find somewhere to train I'll probably just take a bag to a quiet corner of the gym and spar with it for 45 minutes or so.
I'm open to advice, I'm fat, out of shape, and it's been at least 10 years since I saw the inside of a gym (not counting ones I've seen on TV), so hook me up.
If I was giving advice it would be to start slowly and build up. After not training for such a long time your body needs sometime to re-adjust to training. Age:33

And then when you're ready (ideally day 1!) start to get your diet sorted out. I'd hazard a guess you are massively over-eating or eating rubbish (and maybe drinking?) to get to 125kg.
Diet is really the key to the end result, its simply not possible for most of us to get even a half decent body without a good diet.
To start with get rid of sugars, heavily processed foods, fast foods and drink, then after a month or two review where you are and modify accordingly. My preference is very well known on here which is a low carb diet (high protein/low-medium carbs and mid/high fats).
I can tell you how to literally lost a massive amount of weight in an incredibly short time (see my old threads) but the problem with this approach for most is it results in massive burn out after a few weeks unless you are ultra-committed to the life style change because its not always pleasant!

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? You said 20+ years without training but in that pic you look really young (although maybe its down to the poor picture quality).
Anyway well done!
Im 33 now = old man Anyway well done!
20+ years since i done a running race. Used to do lots of running when i was a young kid mainly because my Dad used to but when he had to stop due to dodgy knees so did i.
Before i first posted in the origional thread id pretty much done nothing since i left school apart from Drink, smoke, eat bad and got fat lol.
TBH wish id started working out all those years ago, im loving it and feeling so much better.
Lord Grover I'm sure wont mind me saying is close to 50 and in great shape. Lots of 50's guys in my gym with superb bodies and actually I guy I often train with who is 61 and can outlift me on most lifts.
I don't run too much as I struggle with shin problems and problems with my ankle. I do go for gentle 45 min runs along the beach often but I'm careful. I had the choice to have an operation on my legs but choose not too since I can control it.
