HMCA Medical plan - worth it?

I worked for over 15 years in the private sector and had private medical insurance as part of my package. This was with Bupa and later Cigna.

I am now working in the civil service due to redundancy and do not have any perks such as this. Looking at taking out cover myself.

Bupa want £6k for my family (2 adults, 2 children) per year. I saw a offer from HMCA in a industry publication (IET magazine) and applied. They have come back with a quote of £2.2k.

Anyone here have medical cover with HMCA? Are they any good and do they cover the in line with Bupa Cigna etc?
