Experiences of living with a narcissist.

What are your experiences? How did you cope and how did you get over it?

I'm going through therapy after a major breakdown back in January brought on by a series of stress related events.
Opening up and finally realizing that having lived with/been surrounded by narcissistic people throughout my life( parent, mother in law, boss etc), coupled with extreme childhood trauma etc, probably explains a lot about how i've ended up recently.
It's not an easy subject to talk about but my therapist has helped me a lot to ' peel away' the layers and made me realize the origins of a lot of my problems.

The thing is i never realized it until the psychologist told me to check out certain articles about narcissistic personality disorder. That led me to devouring some books i found on the web and the bits of the jigsaw started to come together.

You live your whole life not realizing that the answers have been there all along right in front of you .The truth is sometimes difficult to swallow.

The worst thing about being having a narcissistic parent is that you end up in codependent relationships.
You give everything to the other person because you need the emotional love you never got when you were younger, and consequently you get trapped in a vicious circle.
