Morning all,

I’m 31, have a wife* and 6 month old*. Run a timber company* so work can be steady but has been a little bit more trying* if late but at no point have I felt stressed.

  • all new “stress”.
Having been suffering from migraines daily for 4 weeks I scheduled a doctors appointment and eye test. Eye test all good, still 20:20 vision and no concerns.

I sporadically checked my blood pressure but not for a few months; my norm is always a little low 118/70 HB57. However at the doctors it was 158/121 HB98 (lowest of 3). Having checked since it’s up and down like a yo-yo (taking average readings from 3).

Should I be worried? What can I do?

Don’t talk to a medical professional or qualified health care practitioner, no way

Instead, ask a group of unknown, unqualified strangers on the internet, then order some recommended drugs ~ from China ~ online

You know it makes sense.
Oh by the way, a wife and child does not necessarily equal stress

HTH
Wrong side of the bed?

I’ve got high bloodd pressure but I’m 10 years older than you. I’m on tablets for it but mine is always higher at the doctors.

What’s your diet like, mine was bad and I drink a lot, hence the poor health!
Diet isn’t too bad and I don’t drink a lot. Less than once a week. I’ve stopped exercising as much as before owing to a change in job.

Is the doctor worried?

118/70 is near enough ideal but a diastolic of 121 is pretty extreme.
Didn’t appear to be. He gave me migraine tablets, Sumatriptan, and told me to see how I got on. Pleasingly, the first sign of a migraine these tablet do suppress it but I’m not convinced that this is fighting the correct issue. High blood pressure is abnormal for me.

You need to take more readings and average them WHEN YOU ARE RELAXED. Any BP reading will be far less relevant if you are feeling stressed or anxious. Your doctor might suggest a 24 hour ambulatory monitor.
I did three this morning just after I woke up, average was 133/90 HR62. Last night after a film it was 121/70 HR56. I’m now at Silverstone Classic sat in the car with, guess what, a migraine albeit now tailing off. 148/102 HR87. (It’s hot, I’m anxious about the above and my head hurts, it’s not going to be low!)
