lateral collateral ligament surgery
Discussion
Very long story short, been to my osteopath this evening and she took a look at my right knee which has been troublesome for a few years.
She’s of the opinion that my lateral collateral ligament is damaged. I have way too much side to side movement in my knee, along with pain when I squat.
She’s doing a letter to my GP to refer me for an MRI but she’s convinced it’ll be a surgery job as it’s pretty bad and I’ll need reconstruction... she said something about taking tissue from my hamstring to reconstruct the ligament?
I’ve read on line various reports of the surgery with anything up to 8 weeks on crutches... that’ll be really difficult for me (have kids who live 50 miles away) so I’m now a bit vexed about the prospect of surgery.
Anyone had it who can give me an idea?

Thanks ALawson, that’s very very useful info. I’m the Basingstoke side of Reading so that’s accessible for me. I may well book in the for a consultation and see what he thinks.
As for recovery, yes I suppose everyone is different. I’ll just have to see whether I end up down that road, and ultimately it can’t be helped. If it needs fixing, it needs fixing.

A little bird told me Mr Wilson had stopped NHS and gone 100% private just recently. Could be a rumour
To be fair, I know it’s not ideal for everyone, but personally I don’t think you put a price on your health. If I need to pay private for the best outcome, I will. I’m not knocking the NHS in anyway, in fact I champion the NHS, but sometimes sticking your hand in your pocket is the sensibke choice if you have the means.
