Hi All, over the last month I have noticed a mole on my chest getting bigger, its quadrupled in size, scabbed and is now bleeding. So have managed to get a doctors appointment for this coming Wednesday. I think that all she will do is have a look and refer me to a specialist. So main questions are what is exactly going to happen in the next few months? Have tried to find something on search but not to any depth. Time frames, biopsy stuff etc further tests. I know its not the nicest subject to ask but any help would be appreciated. ............................many thanks

hi all, just an update on the mole. Seen the dermatology doc today at 10:00am this morning after a few more weeks than the 2 weeks mentioned, and by 14:00pm was under the knife. A bit fast is an understatement ! Anyway, on the sheet was "Exision to melanoma on right of chest" so, not 100% confirmed until another 3 weeks wait for the results from pathology. Was watching throughtout procedure so seen the hole, looked deep too. Mole was about the size of a 5p piece but hole was the size of a £2 coin and 1/2" deep. 15 stitches later, anti-biotics and 1/2hr and off back home. No pain just skin feels tight. Doc will call me back in for a chat when the results are back. So hopefully all is well and that is that.

hi all, sorry deiselgrunt for the late reply, not too fair, not very fussed about taking shirts off etc as am hairy and dont like the way people look at me, never have, never will.
Anyway, had recall from doctor to say, yes I have skin cancer. So need to go back in and have another op only a bigger one this time as they did not get rid of it the last time. Also a CT scan. I was quite shocked when she said its confirmed as I had convinced myself that I was OK. Mrs Ug is not good tho.The bit that got me was as soon as she said it she thrusted the McMillan book on me and called a McMillan nurse in, as if I get any questions I need answering is to contaact her. All very quick in an out in 15 mins. Then queue to get bloods done. Waiting for appointment now etc.

Do you want me to keep updating as I go along or not as its not the best subject to write about...........ta like UG

hi all, just an update. I was supposed to have had a second but larger excision this coming Monday to remove more meat, all down to some guide, bigger the mole , the bigger the hole. Anyway had a phone call from the Doc to say all was well with the CT scan. But, she was discussing myself and a few others who are at this stage of diagnosis with the local panel of specialists and wanted to know if I would have an option of something called "Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy" ( BeeBopsee ). This entails an injection of a blue dye into the area of the mole. Tracing it thru the chest to one of the lymph nodes in the armpit. If there is no sign of the dye then the cells have not reached the lymph node. If it turns blue then they will open me up under general and remove it or other nodes etc. While doing this they might do the second larger excision on my chest to be on the safe side. I will still be booked in for another CT scan in six months. This SLNB will be done in 6 to 8 weeks time, yeh xmas time, Never mind................TTFN .......Ug
