Anyone on TRT?
Discussion
I'm currently undergoing testing and after a long while I'm at the stage where I'm off for an MRI scan next weekend for a pituitary check for ruling out a tumour.
Without a full insight into my problems one of them is low T and its associated symptoms.
Consultant reckons TRT can be given to alleviate things and get me feeling normal again.
While this all sounds great I'm always one who researches real world side effects rather than the endless list of possible effects listed in a disclaimer style.
I remember a friend having to be treated with steroids years ago for some totally different issue and within weeks he'd blown up like a balloon - hamster face et al.
So, what can I expect if I go on this topical gel? Will I just start to function again and all be well? Or will I end up looking like violet beauregarde with a load of other unwanted side effects?
Any feedback from people actually taking it in some form would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

thank you all for chipping in guys.
It's been a long road for me that resulted in the most productive referral (eventually) to an endocrinologist at the local hospital.
After numerous blood tests and appointments then the current state of affairs is that I have 3 X-ray booked - this Sunday (MRI pituitary scan) Monday (DEXA scan) and Tuesday (Midriff)
Endo has said once the MRI is done and looks OK then I can immediately go on the T Gel and has written to my GP stating so.
Soooo hopefully in a few weeks I'll be back on form.
Googling the symptoms of the pituitary tumour then I've got a lot of them including the low t at 3.
I can't wait to be honest as I've been feeling st for a good while now. I'm just concerned about side effects.
I'm one of those that tends to get them with most medications

Yes! for 2 years now. Think your confusing medical steroids with 'royds!
I have a tumour which stopped the signal going out from the Pituitary, hence being on injections. Im not sure if your private or NHS, be aware that the treatments from the NHS are nowhere near as good as going private as this seems to be an area that the NHS really dont understand very well.
Once your treatment starts to work you should notice loss of body fat, increased cognative function, lack of joint pain, increase in strenght and turning into a sex maniac again - both a gift and curse!
I suffered for years due to the NHS not bothering / understanding the condition. Feel free to PM me if you like as I can reccomend a very good clinic which may save you months of messing around if your going to the wrong person. If your doc mentions taking Nebido, run a mile! Its the NHS weapon of choice and as a TRT replacement its far down the list (works for very few). Again I wasted half a year on this crap!
If it turns out I have a tumour then may I ask how it is treated and what other effects it has on your life?I have a tumour which stopped the signal going out from the Pituitary, hence being on injections. Thanks to all for the replies in this thread - it's really appreciated you taking the time to share your experiences.
Yesterday I had the MRI, today I had a thorax scan and tomorrow I've got the DEXA scan.
Reading the replies it's disappointing to hear that the NHS are useless in this matter and also that those who have actually been prescribed the treatment are not exactly 100% in all cases.
Naively I just assumed it was a silver bullet and happy days ahead! It seems thats far from the reality and there is a lot of dose adjustment, side effects and lack of support.
TBH I can't carry on feeling like this and as such I feel I've got little option but to give it a whirl.
So once my scans tell the story and they progress to prescription then my plan is as follows
- Try gel first (don't want an injection that stays in for months if the side effects are unbearable)
- Ask for the gel to be Testo Gel
- Take each day at a time, monitor and adverse effects and not expect miracles
Thanks once again

So just to update...
I received my tostran yesterday and started first application today. 6 pumps >60mg and applied to inside of each thigh.
To be honest I'm pleasantly surprised with ease of application and drying time contrary to feedback from others in the thread.
I rubbed it in spending about 30 seconds doing so and it was gone, dry and no unpleasant odour other than a sort of 'clinical' fresh smell.
Maybe the product has been improved since?
Anyway I'll update in a few weeks unless anything is noticeable beforehand.

Just a few observations after 3 applications
My symptoms are improving already! Wether it's placebo fking with me i don't know though...
I've slept great since 9 hours a night (as opposed to a collective 3 or four hours prior)
I'm an avid (ageing) boxer and train 3 times a week at the club - Last two times at the end I could have gone through the conditioning again - in the past I was stuck to the floor with exhaustion.
Overall I feel happier, less tired and have a lot more go about me - I'm starting to feel like the old me again.
Re libido - no great changes like above but my wife is starting to look a bit foxy again So hopefully I'll be back to form there soon
Again the Tostran is a cinch to use and its on and i'm dressed in less than 3 mins so much be a new formulation from what others have tried.

Sounds good Tigsy - we both starting at the same time. Ive been on Testan gel for a week now.
Energy levels are far better and I'm more aggressive at the boxing club (only when required - day to day I'm placid enough)
I'm 46 so were are a similar age too so it will be interesting to see how things go.
My only notable side effects after a week is that my appetite has diminished slightly and Ive been feeling nauseous after eating.
Doc reckons things will level out after a few weeks as body normalises.
Sleep is better but still seem to wake at 0200hrs for a while!
This is an interesting timeline of effects article

Ive been n Testogel now for around 6 months but mine is supplied in 50ml sachets so Im guessing pretty consistent in terms of product blend (if thats the issue in your case)
Its worked for me and all my symptoms have resolved. I feel normal again, fully functioning as it were and generally like my old self.
How have you found things?

You shouldn't have any problem buying from an UGL, test isn't scarce or expensive to produce in injectable form.
What is/are UGL?So these UGL are accessed via the net/websites? Im guessing on the dark web rather than mainstream internet?
