Have to say my GP moved fast once I had the samples done.

What gets me is that I've never seen blood in the loo and that the FIT test is such a miniscule sample of poo, to find a trace of blood in that and be concerned is somewhat......errrr concerning.

My main symptom, that had me finally seeing the doc, was constant, loud, smelly flatuence which has just really ruined my chances of feeling confident and comfortable on a date.

Little things huh!

I'm 60 this year and bowel cancer took out my dad in his 70s thus my doc is worried.

Ok it maybe something else but my daily habit feels restricted and I'm mainly emitting gas, yet the stools, when they come, are soft.

My ex wife has battled breast cancer for 10 years and is being scanned the day before me for possible lung cancer.

Still have two teens at home and a daughter in her early 20s just starting out in life.

Well just need to start the clear liquid diet on Wednesday and take the laxatives on Friday.

Had a check, that was clear, at 50 so I knew to book this Friday off work and I won't leave the flat.

I've not spoken to anyone about this apart from ex wife and ex girlfriend, hence posting here.

Look after yourselves all.

Hope it goes well chum and nothing to worry about.

A 'top tip' I can offer. After drinking the laxative stuff don't stray too far from the toilet and when you do go sit directly on the pan not the seat so you contain the eruption. Otherwise the blow back can reach the underside of the seat. Ask me how I know rolleyes
Appropriate username hehe

Yes, I've discovered the underside of the loo seat on a previous occasion.

Ta.

Cheers hehe

Last time it was just one sachet.

Now it's two sachets and 10 pills yikes

Due to the 1pm appointment the second sachet has to be taken on in the morning of the day.

Bit concerned about the trip to the hospital and sudden expulsions.

So it's T-2 hours until my first potion.

For the past two days I've been on the low/no fibre diet stipulated by the the pre procedure paperwork.

All the stuff that we have been told to avoid like white bread, cheese, milk and butter, are allowed.

Must avoid greens, bran, oats, granary bread etc.

I had a baguette smothered in butter the other night. It was heavenly.

So no porridge oats with soy milk in the mornings and suddenly all the symptoms that had me finally seeing the GP have gone away, after only two days.

Coincidence?

No stomach pain, no soft constipation, and most importantly the old man, I can't keep it in, flatuence has gone.

Well the probe goes in tomorrow so we shall see but it'd be great if I could give up the 'healthy' diet.

Having suffered with UC and having gone through it a few times,
The prep is the worst part, However my gastro is cool and gives me propofol, 10/10 Do recommend,

Without a doubt youll be on the throne skimming through PH, (hmm maybe the other one too) gritting teeth and debating when is safe to leave the bathroom. Short answer, not yet..

If you have not read the below, i can thoroughly recommend in your situation, was my go to read, knowing your not suffering alone strangely comforting

Well firstly I have to commend all the girls and boys working at the Endoscopy unit today.

They were fantastic at making me feel comfortable and in good hands. Even the lady porter who I had a good chat with.

No cancer found. 3 polyps found and cut out in full HD. Being sent for tests but the consultant didn't seem too worried. Plus evidence of Diverticula disease, mild.

Guess that's what you get for 60 years of booze, curries and chips being forced over mucous membranes.

Fascinating watching the doc get the metal hoop over the polyp and then the smoke as it's snipped off.

Stomach is a bit tender and full of air. Headed over to ex girlfriend's for dinner. Hope it dissipates before then as she lives in a tiny studio with a toilet door about 4mm thick, behind the telly.

It was worrying that I still needed to go as I left for the hospital. No disasters on the train thankfully.

Cheers everyone for your input.

Driller, to be honest it was fine. The pumping up wasn't as bad as I thought but they did hand me the stuff they give to women giving birth.

So why not, I was getting quite spaced whilst a lady doc was shoving something up where the sun don't shine.

You'd pay for that normally hehe

Having everything in front of you on a big telly is a fascinating distraction, especially when you see the polyps being snared and cauterized.

Difficult to equate that it's happening to you.

Best of luck with it.

No update yet on the biopsies but just musing about a healthy diet.

The low no fibre plain food for 3 days prior to the procedure and my tummy problems appeared to go away.

No loo 3/4 times a day. No feeling of not having finished and no terrible wind.

The past week or more I have stuck to coffee and a bit of toast for breakfast, a tomato or banana with a packet of crisps for lunch, then a small plain meal in the evening. Maybe some rich tea biscuits for pudding and another small packet of crisps for boredom.

No more creaking noisy tum, one loo visit in the morning, feel very good.

Even did a 17 mile walk followed by a 14 mile walk the next day. Something I wouldn't normally consider unless I knew there were toilets along the way.

Last night I had a nice healthy salad and today it's creaking tum, farts and 2, so far, loo visits and I need to go again.....soon.

Odd.
