Today I went to see the inestimable Jamie at B&C and he sent me out in a GT410 Auto (the car I was hoping to drive wasn't available). I just love the test drives at B&C. I also went to rethink whether I was Evora or Exige material. That was easy, the Exige which is lovely just doesn't have enough space for stuff (two people, two sets of race gear, assorted race gubbins for a race weekend away, for example).

Now I don't fancy an auto, but I was happy to go out in one to see what it was like. And I actually quite liked it!

The GT410 was brilliant, I just loved it. Any thoughts I was harbouring about it not being sporty enough evaporated as soon as the cool coolant light went out. Such a fab car and definitely a worthy replacement to my previous 997GT3.

And then to the auto box itself. I really enjoyed it. Ok in auto mode and quite special in manual mode and a very good party trick in race mode and full-on use. Great fast up changes and a super snappy down change with a glorious blip.

I still want a manual, but it's much closer than I thought! And then there's the newly announced JUBU DCT box that I have been reading about over on TLF. Now there's a thought and possibly good for more bhp too!

And thanks again to Jaime for his hospitality and patience as I have been looking to buy for quite a long time and failed on several occasions, all my own fault!

Probably stuff everyone knows, but I was excited!

It really is pretty good isn't it!
So much so that it's given me pause for thought. Not that I want it specifically, but it has made me think that an Evora with the JUBU DCT box could be really good if it has super sharp changes for track and medium fast changes for road use. But you would need a project car to fit it to, not a nearly new shiny 410. How annoying, I'd pretty much sorted out what Evora direction to go in. Now there's a bit more to think about!
