Hola,

Driving down to La Cala de Mijas this year, the first time with the "benefit" of a Sat Nav system.

All the route finders etc suggest the red route shown here. I've done this once before 4 years ago and it was quite a drive through the mountains, which was picturesque, but a bit tough after 1200 odd miles.

On our return journey that year, we did the green route, sort of by accident, which we found much easier, flatter, more comfortable.

Any thoughts on which is the better option in terms of distance / tolls etc. I didn't really think too much of it back then but I'd be interested to hear any +/- points from the "locals".

I should add that we're in an MPV and not something that "enjoys" the twisty stuff.

Gracias, PP.

Sorry.

Start point is Calais, down past Bordeaux.

Spanish side will take me through Burgos, then down through Madrid on the E5 where I shall then get to the "fork" shown in the picture.

Cheers.

You also have the benefit of the new road that bypasses Malaga and the endless Malaga hills section which was always a right pita at the end of your journey
This. Makes the red route even quicker now.
When was that completed?

Thanks for the info chaps.
