I'm amazed there haven't been any spanish posters contributing to this section as PH seems to be fairly well known all over Europe. To be honest i generally post in Jap Chat but haven't noticed there is a Spain section till tonight. I see the first posts go back to September last year so it's still early days i suppose.

Anyway, just thought i would say hi, and now you have a spaniard posting on this section. My neck of the woods when i visit is Jerez De La Frontera, that's where my mother lives. The way things are over here i reckon it won;t be long before i up sticks and head for my ancestral home. At least the weather's good. biggrin

Just a quick question to those living in Spain. Do you see many subaru's out there, modified or standard??

Cheers, Francis thumbup

And TVR's having read most of these threads. In which case i should learn to remap those as well, or perhaps i'll just stick to Subaru's. smile

Anyhow, hopefully now i'll be frequenting Spain section regularly.

Thanks for the reply.

Francis

There's hope yet then because remapping Subaru's is what i would like to do in Spain. I travel all over the UK doing this and obviously there is no shortage of scoobys over here however, the weather here is lousy and so is the state of the country so Spain is now even more appealing than ever.

Despite the current lousy spanish economy, and to be fair, that's all over Europe, it's nothing quite like it is over here.

The UK is still 'muy caro y muy malo', and i have no idea why so many young spaniards are coming over here. Perhaps it's the multitude of low paying low skill jobs like fruit and veg picking, domestics and restaurant work that brits won't do.

Is it really so bad in Spain that they would come here to this damp and cold miserable hole that is the UK??

There's no lifestyle of any sort to be had here any more. In the UK you live to work rather than work to live.

I think it will have to be a tent on the beach at Rota or Sanlucar, or maybe Chipiona for the summer, and a litle job hiring sunbeds out. Oh the simple things in life. biggrin

Jerez for me. Lovely selection of beaches not far away, frequented mostly by spanish holidaymakers from Madrid and the north, and what i would call quality brits looking for culture and cusine. The brits that live here are great and nothing like the beer bingo and chips crowd.

Thankfully the Costa De La Luz doesn't have the same attraction to the scum end of the market that the Costa Del Sol/Brava/Blanca, tourist areas etc... suffer from. These areas are victims of their own success.

As you say that kind of over pricing may well scare brits and others off to greener pastures elsewhere in Europe or perhaps even North Africa and the Middle East. That would hurt Spain bigtime and all of it because of desperation and greed.

There are plenty of sunny climes out there deperate for tourist and ex-pat money.

My heart still lives in Spain and i couldn't really imagine moving to anywhere else apart from doing a long haul to perhaps Canada, NZ or Oz if things don't start to improve Europe wide as a whole.

Costa De La Luz has the most beautiful coastline and scenery, mostly unspoilt by sky high hotels. Building regs seem to be a bit more sympathetic towards keeping the coastline free from monstrosities The diving is very good around Cadiz, Puerto De Santa Maria has a PADI dive school.

I hear Parasurfing and Windsurfing is especially good over your neck of the woods. Tarifa and Barbate (Caños de Meca) come to mind.

There's hope for me yet then biggrin

I think there are probably a fair number more along the east coast and hopefully more inland. I've not heard of too many scooby tuners in Spain if any on the mainland, i think there might be one in the canaries somewhere. Seems an odd place to have a scooby tuner, so many miles from the mainland and i can't imagine there are that many there either.

To me it doesn't matter where they are in Spain as i provide a mobile service anyway and to be honest travelling miles in Spain beats travelling miles in a heavily congested UK hands down. If there are enough scooby's in Spain, and i can remap EVO's too so it does broaden the potential for me, it would make my decision a lot easier and probaly get me moving out there sooner rather than later.

There must be a way to find out.

I know France has it's fair share of Subaru's, they certainly love them there, and i didn't think Spain would be any different with their intense love of rallying and motorsport generally. I'm going to try and find out what the score is.

No thanks, there's no skill in just flashing a Bosch ECU and I don't do one size fits all either. Anyone can do that in 30mins.

Subaru's are much more involved and much more fun, and you really do need to know what you're doing!! It can take between 4-8hrs to remap a Subaru, and it's all full custom remapping specific to each individual car. smile
