So Martinez has said no and it seems it back to mark hughes?

Owen Coyle would make a great addition imo but Moyes would still be my first choice go to man.

The sooner Villa sort a good manager the better.

Not the first time villa have been complimented on their conduct. Leeds said the same last year too.

He shouldve gone straight after moyes IMO. Was quite surprised MartinEz being asked.

What can Villa offer that Everton can't?
A bigger transfer budget? good investments from randy?

He's been plodding along to no where for some time at everton.

No i didnt think martinez would be the kind of manager that would or could persuade the bigger names to stay at the club. as good as a manager as he may become i think he needs a few more seasons to be bloodied in.

what villa need now is a proven manager who has a high enough calibre and pull in the premiership

for me its either hughes or moyes.

Not mcleish!! Pls god not mcleish. Someone phone mclaren see if he's available!

He couldn't hack Scotland let alone the premiership!

Loving the curse of the marlon though!

i cant believe mcleish to villa is actually going to happen.

wtf are the board doing?! i mean i can understand about martinez - upcoming manager and all that. i can understand about mclaren having won the dutch league. Hell i'd even understood about houllier. but this beggars belief.

and bham to ask 5.4m for him!?

I suppose with his record he can demand more than Martinez, McCleish etc... if you want to be up there challenging you have to pay, The others you have looked at have done NOTHING.
i dont think martinez's record at the moment is as good as people make it sound. he's still too Paul Ince for me yet.

mcleish because he won one trophy? he couldnt take rangers anywhere. and the backlash from the fans is worth that?

especially villa fans biggrin

see who comes in player wise.

lots of calls for ben foster but i doubt small heath would sell him to villa.

at least its not a last minute thing like the oneill/houllier thing where the whole pre-season was left out.

Who do you rate more -

Downing or Young??
i think the problem with downing was he stayin at boro a few seasons too long. if he moved earlier to a bigger club he would've been alot better.

really surprised at the valuation though - he's much better than downing so i dont know a) why liverpool didnt go for him b) why only 10m?!

thats a mental price.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is not expected to play again this season after being ruled out for up to three months with ruptured ankle ligaments.
It is a huge blow to the 28-year-old's hopes of playing for England at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
Bent is unlikely to be available until the end of May, ahead of England's first game against France on 11 June.
Out for the rest of the season

shame really it was his time to shine too

I could live with that - he's young and ambitious, and turned things around at Molde.
has apparently spent a fair whack compared to their league standard in getting that turned around though

I consoled myself with the thought that we won the first halfhehe
i woke up and looked at the scores - 0-1 sweet this is villa's to take home now

went to sleep as i was working at 6-4am 4-1

i do think the team is gelling together and once bent gets back to form we can rely on him but if he gets injured that is a worry though

great result

loads of ppl were texting to me oh shame your team's going down etc

but as i said - new manager new team - takes time - and its showing off - i'm not getting too carried away as we could still easily lose the next game but this has been turning the juggernaut in the right direction

yeah the signings he does need to make are the experienced older heads.

defensively the confidence is below the barrel. its like a rabbit in headlights.
