It's so obvious that so few on here have actually played the game at a decent standard.

Quick question for you chaps

If Dalglish shouted at Liverpool to push pineapples and shake a tree, what the fk would Agger do?

Trouble is though that if you're not that mobile then being adept at right place, right time is pretty key, isn't it? At one point against Citeh we broke quickly from defence (Henderson + 2 others iirc) and by the time we got to their box it was impossible to say how far behind Carroll was because he wasn't in the same camera shot.

Much as his game may not be based on speed, surely some degree of mobility (being able to run) can be expected of a professional football player. You'd expect anyone with aspirations of swimming at the Olympics to at least be able to float.
This was one of the key things about Teddy Sheringham, he wasn't the quickest but his positional sense and reading of the game meant it didn't matter, you cannot lack pace and awareness

I also read this weekend that Carroll seems to go down a bit easily at times? I know that always used to infuriate me with Heskey

I think all in you will have to give him at least another season, I think the price tag is a weight around his neck and the fact you have no one to take the pressure off can't help

Apparrently we're linked with some guy called Zaha - anyone heard of him?

I know the general consensus on here is that we need a striker, but personally i feel we need an established attacking midfielder and a tricky right winger first..
Wilfred Zaha, plays for Palace and would fill the tricky right winger part, he gave us a bit of a going over when they knocked us out of the cup

oooh i like. thanks for the link.

not sure about this comment: "so many tricks you sometimes wonder if he knows what he's doing"... sounds like milan baros the expert bundle merchant...
I think he is ok, he is young and quick as well as being quite big he doesn't seem afraid to run at a defender (Downing anyone?) sometimes the skill can come over time, the will and speed to take on your man is all you need to start with

Its funny I am reading Gary Nevilles book at the moment (he is more complementary about you guys than you would think) and he says the key to our success in the early 90's was Giggs and Becks, we were always tearing down the wings and sticking in crosses, eventually one of those will get met by a striker, I think thats the sort of player you need to get AC scoring, someone who will consistently for 90 mins take on their man and whip crosses in

Must admit I've become quite a closet Gary Neville fan since he's been on Sky. He clearly has a lot of respect for LFC, and knows the game inside out.

Might get his book getmecoat
Its a real eye opener, I have always loved Nev but understand how others don't to be fair he admits this himself, there are also a few chapters about England which are interesting

I am halfway through the book in 2 days, its one of the better football biographys IMO

ETA, he only ever wanted to play for UTD, when they were young him and Phil got offered 7 year contracts and signed them in 15 mins, apparently another pro (I forget who) said to their dad, why did they sign 7 year contracts? Their Dad replied 'Because we couldn't get them to go to 10'

I think this is the best reason for it:
"This might ease the load on some other threads and allow the fans of those clubs to regain some form of interest and ownership" (Your words)

Give the less vocal posters a look in. (I know I am in the group that posts alot in all threads)

smile
Yeah absolutely agree there are a core group love to just chat footy and as you say others just want to talk.about their clubs, hope it works smile

Could not get on yesterday know not why.

Anywho my take from the game is this: We are not scoring many goals at home or away for that matter, so we leave our two strikers on the bench... (I am discounting kuyt because he is crap smile)

Bellamy and AC on the bench of course we will struggle to break anyone down with no forward threat.

That is all
Without getting involved in all the KK, Comolli, Downing etc nonsense

I found this an extremely odd decision you need goals, very odd

Community yes, I have met many members of this site, have you? Have you tried putting anything into this site at all?
