Wow. How a person can build up a reputation and have it all blown away in 5 minutes. His career is done.

As for the LMA response, it was simply pathetic and frankly disgusting.

Looking past the fact that this all broke as almost certainly as a vendetta by Vincent Tan, I have just seen an interview this morning by Mackay where he says he is not a racist.

I am sorry but you aired privately probably something you would never dare say publicly, is simply a reflection of your personal thoughts and feelings. What he said wasn't even said in a the context of a joke - not that it would have lessened the impact of the words. His PR mission this morning to come across as an honest decent guy was a thinly veiled attempt to rebuild his future prospects as a football manager in a highly lucrative sport. Plain and simple.

Must admit what I don't understand is why Crystal Palace would give a rat fk. Maybe a whole 5 of their fans would care what MM said. It would be forgotten by the next Saturday. It would cause Palace sod all revenue or reputation. MM on his job performance is clearly a good manager I'd have said fk it, hired him and shut up shop for the week till Saturday. But hey ho we live in a world where PR and media platitudes are king.

Vincent Tan has absolutely nailed his revenge though. Served cold?...it was still at Iceland!
The reason why Crystal Palace gave a rat fk is imagine you were a black player in the squad. Would you respect anything he would say? Would you refuse to play? Would you think "maybe because I am black MM thinks I shouldn't be playing for Palace because I should be in jail". This applies also to Asian and Jewish players too.

That is why Crystal Palace have to give a rat fk and the rest of the football league in future. His position is untenable.

Still don't think the man should lose his job for something he sent in private. Fair enough now if he was sending details of someone he wanted murdered or whatever.
He didn't lose his job for the text messages. He lost his job because of a disagreement with Tan based mainly on overspend on transfers amongst other things. The text messages were found afterwards and used (allegedly) to prevent him getting the Palace job.

Correct but surely he is now unemployable.
Obviously not. It is a sad day when a racist (yes he apologised) is allowed to get a top job in football. I had a lot of respect for Whelan - and lost a lot of it today.
