Looking past the fact that this all broke as almost certainly as a vendetta by Vincent Tan, I have just seen an interview this morning by Mackay where he says he is not a racist.
I am sorry but you aired privately probably something you would never dare say publicly, is simply a reflection of your personal thoughts and feelings. What he said wasn't even said in a the context of a joke - not that it would have lessened the impact of the words. His PR mission this morning to come across as an honest decent guy was a thinly veiled attempt to rebuild his future prospects as a football manager in a highly lucrative sport. Plain and simple.

k is imagine you were a black player in the squad. Would you respect anything he would say? Would you refuse to play? Would you think "maybe because I am black MM thinks I shouldn't be playing for Palace because I should be in jail". He didn't lose his job for the text messages. He lost his job because of a disagreement with Tan based mainly on overspend on transfers amongst other things. The text messages were found afterwards and used (allegedly) to prevent him getting the Palace job. bad company said:
