About to buy a Subaru (or Clio 197 if all else fails)
It'll be a WRX...insurance will be £1500 (sadly) but I am 21 so thats very good!
Looking at models like this http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3932720.htm (I'd have to get those god awful stickers removed though).

Few questions now

Realistic MPG
Realistic opinions on what it'll be like to live with daily (my classic mini being my weekend car)
And whats the maximum milage I'd want to consider? Budget of strictly £5500.

I just placed a deposit on that one with the stickers, went to look at it and its mint!
HPI cleared and all that.

Arrrgh! The Stickers??!!

Did tha actual car win the WRC in 2004 or something? wink

How did it drive?
You'll love it.
Drove like I expected, put my foot down and then an invisible man pushed me into my chair whilst things got closer.

Has it been modified?
Apart from the stickers (which the dealer did for some reason? Showed me pics of it before) no, just a better CD player with bluetooth.

Oh and a tracker but no performance mods.

The exhaust isn't stock, looks similar to a Prodrive backbox which is no bad thing.

Stock one has a twin peashooter affair that really muffles the burble.

Looks good though and will look even better if you get shut of all those stickers smile
He said they're factory fitted things so I'm guessing he classed ProDrive as factory. Which it kind of is..There is full service history and receipts so I can check.

A map makes a massive difference to the WRX. Do consider it. It really transforms the WRX...
I've heard this, I live fairly local to MIJ performance/exhausts whatever you may call them so I've sent them an email enquiring.

Christ who sold it to you, Mike Brewer??

Jokes aside, it will almost certainly be a great daily and looks like a good example, apart from the daft stickers that is!

Is the dealer taking them off for you?
Nope!
They don't look bad in the flesh but there are too many for my taste.

Any guides on changing the cam belt or best to let a garage do it?

Cambelt was changed at 40k miles, 60k on clock now.

Guess how much my insurance is?
Called admiral and they were being really ish with me because I'm young.
I paid it off in one go and I'll be collecting the car on friday but go on..have a guess. It was £1280ish before I spoke on the phone to buy it.

If they treated you like they treated me then they added 50% to their online quote come the time you actually needed to buy it, so £1,600 ish.

That's what I'd expect for a 21 y/o in an Impreza Turbo, anyway.
Basically what you said.
£1750, the online quote was bks. The guy I was speaking to kept saying it has to change because I'm young....then why quote that much online?

Tried loads of insurance companies and these were still the cheapest. At least it'll come down next year...
