Morning All,

I was driving home the other day and while overtaking on snow I revved the car up to nearly 6000rpm in 4th gear and thereafter on the way home when she was idling in traffic or at the McDonalds drive thru thereafter It sounded was almost going to cut out (but never did) and as the revs recovered under idling i felt a slight vibration. I was about to turn it into the local mechanic straight away but my wife took it skiing yesterday and it was 100% fine and today on the way to work it was again 100% fine. I know I should've paid more attention and changed gears while overtaking but was distracted by the road noise from the snow tyres and I certainly wont wittingly do it again.

However has anyone any idea what the noises at idling couldve been.?/ No warning lights or anything like that.

was it flat out spinning on ice/snow then caught traction? might have damaged something
If he genuienly was doing that he shouldn’t be on the road that’s utterly insane and an accident waiting to happen - then again smashing past at max rpm in 4th gear 115-145mph isn’t exactly the safest either or smartest.
Ive been driving it the last few days and it seems fine. As the others above have attested, it was not at max RPM. Snow was a big factor, as was the guy in front crawling along in a BMW on presumably summer tyres. Plus I also mention the word 'Unwittingly' meaning I hadnt intended on this. Ive been driving in alpine areas on a daily basis for the last 10 odd years so I know what I should and shouldnt be doing and what can be gotten away with.

Plus your speed assesment is very very wide.

In anycase thanks to you all for the comments, much appreciated.
