Hi all,

Looking to go on a small subaru spree when get back into the country late August to replace our 2 cars we sold before leaving.

Thoughts on choices and advice best dealers, importers etc appreciated. We're in devon so anything local all the better.

Car 1-forester xte 2.5l, 2008ish, to replace prev forester 2.0xt which we loved.

Question does this look reasonable price and anything to be REALLY wary of with theis spec?

Car 2 - Imprezza STI hatch, possibly C spec import?

I LOVE the look of this car and like many grew.up watching mcrae win championships so the allure of an imprezza ( okay not the proper one!) Is large..
is the import C spec worth the extra cost/hassle? Anything to be wary of, and best importers? I have torque gt round the corner from me ( 5 min drive!) So below looks fairly good...? Price wise I have no clue on these, vs UK spec? Is insurance on c spec just a nightmare or not much higher than uk? Never owned an import before, am 35.

Am in the US at the moment with in an out reception so please forgive any delayed replys!

Many thanks.

Ahhh okay, thanks.
Being honest, obviously I dont need the spec C, it'll be a run around car and odd trip from devon to london maybe. Perhaps in some spare time i may look at track day lessons and take it there but not a cert.

So are there sti hatches that are not the spec C then, so you get the good import engine but not overkill car?

Alternatively how can you cure the curse of the uk engine? Given they're 7/8k cheaper!? But I dont fancy a blown engine at 100k!

Thanks,
I'm leaning towards a non spec c at the moment as dont need the performance, talking with gr torque for what other jdm hatches there are. Mainly jdm to avoid engine worries!

Anyone heard anything about the 5th/6th of the jdm not ideally as high revs at normal speeds like 80? Can they be revamped to give better motorway cruising?

Anyone got any thoughts comments on the forester?

Thanks.

As a complete change of tact, anyone have any thoughts of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce.

Granted every different car but I've also wanted an Alfa for a long time so this or the sti hatch are top of list over all the other hot hatch types out there.

I assume the sti is probably a fair bit faster and better handling with its 4wd vs alfa rwd?

Thanks,

Out of interest do the most recent uk 2017/18 wrx sti's still have the engine questions/failures or is that mainly the 2008 era ones?
