I'm aware of the standard STI as a JDM import. They are getting a bit old but have a combination of size, speed, ground clearance etc that would be useful to me.
But I'm a bit old for the bright colours, lairy wheels and stickers so are there any slightly more restrained versions out there that keep the good bits. More a lux model than a sport model.
Other opitons are a refit; leather seats, respray, no tints etc but if I could find it without in the first place then al the better.
Are they all 2.5 engines and do they therefore run the sti risks these engines have?
Thanks

The actual model isn't critical; I chose the sti as that's the quickest!
We are going to need a bit more ground clearance and 4wd as well as the need to do 2-3 hr motorway journeys comfortably.
I'd go for a L322 RR but they are a bit big. A freelander 2 is a bit slow and I'm not really keen on the audi rs models.
We've had impreza wagons before but need a bit more space.
Hence a Forester. It would end up being my wife's daily and she'll complain if it's much slower than her current car. Problem is that's a c55 estate!

I hadn't. First thoughts were they don't seem "small" but I haven't looked that closely. I believe the 4.5 engines have a few issues but not sure about the 4.8s. I'll investigate. Thanks
